Ollie's Trolley located in Old Louisville has awesome burgers and the seasoned fries are delicious. The little trolley car on 3rd Street has walk up service and is open for lunch only so get there early. There's gonna be a line but it moves pretty quickly and you are probably going to make some new friends.
When it's your turn, you enter the Trolley car, walk up to counter and place your order. I always order the Ollie Burger Dressed with Cheese(they use Mozzarella!) add extra sauce, Seasoned fries and a Coke. Pay with Cash, about $7.00, grab your brown bag of yummy food and proceed to your car where you should turn on some tunes and enjoy
Ollie's serves burgers and fries. Do not come to Ollie's Restaurant trying to order anything else, and know what you want when you walk in. They serve burgers and fries (hot dogs and chili dogs) It's not high faluting or fancy but it's really, really good and the employees are very quick and friendly.
Just FYI:
No credit or debit cards- CASH ONLY Open Mon-Friday 10:30-4:ish LUNCH ONLY No weekends No reservations No inside seating

Read moreFirst of all, you must have cash to buy this food! When I was a teen a young adult (many years ago) Ollie's Trolley was the bomb! It was the most delicious hamburger and fries you could buy. My 82 year old mother & I passed near it recently and decided we must try some for old times sake. The line was a little long, but it was 2 days before a holiday so I was glad they were even open. I parked, got out of my car and stood in the 6 foot apart, mask wearing line. I purchased 1 cheese burger & fries, and one hamburger and fries. These were served in a brown paper lunch sack. As expected the food was greasy and somewhat well seasoned. We waited until we got home to eat the food. The fries were thin, not thick as I remembered and the hamburger wasn't that thick round seasoned beef I remembered. It was OK, but compared to Rally's (whose fries always tasted suspiciously close to Ollie's) the hamburger was just OK as were the fries. Our order was about $12. No tip required. The people were working hard and I was in and out quick, but I won't be going back unless it's the only thing open and...
Read moreCASH ONLY. This is the most Louisville burger. You drive up and park either in the lot, or on the side of the main road. You wait in line, everyone eagerly anticipating the same experience you're going to have. You see people of all races and classes. You finally make it in to order, and you see a kitchen full of women, average age 50, running the grill like engineers. You place your order, Ollie Burger with cheese and fries (extra fries if you're hungry, extra spice on the fries if you want some zip). You tip the ladies because you're courteous. They hand you a paper bag with your food, and you eat it in your car or on the single bench they have. You see a rougher side of Louisville with ornate church spires in the background. And you just take in the Louisville weirdness--the ways the city makes art in unlikely spots, the way the city does its best without any pretenses, the way the city has people who are tough but pleasant, the way the buildings are grimey but perfectly suited to their task. It's poetry...
