8/1/25: Short version - wow, was Taste Local awesome! The staff was very friendly; the drinks were wonderfully different; the food was scrumptious; and the decor was chaotic (nothing matched) yet it all worked to provide a small, country home feel. There was some artwork on the walls for sale from local artists. Some of it was stunning, I wish I had more money to buy a piece.
Longer version - we were visiting Loveland from Arizona & while searching for a place for breakfast, Taste's menu looked appealing -- and it did not disappoint.
Drinks: we started off with the juicy ginger chai & rosemary pear. Loved them! The pear had a more mild flavor but my sister fully enjoyed it, while I loved my ginger chai. The entire time we were there we kept looking at a couple other drinks that sounded just as good ... so we decided to get a couple more to go: sunny day sip & matcha. I didn't think it would be possible but the sunny day sip was even better than the ginger chai.
Food: holy cow, I'm still salivating over their food. We ordered the large cinnamon roll, blood orange pistachio crepe, and cherry chocolate waffle. The cinnamon roll? We both actually thought it was more like a streusel. It had an apple flavor with it, with a slightly crunchy top & and airy center; the perfect amount of cinnamon.
The crepe? I love crepes. I have eaten a lot of crepes, from many different restaurants. Let me tell you, Taste's pistachio crepe was one of the BEST CREPES EVER. The flavor combination was paired perfectly, the crepe was fluffy, the potatoes were expertly seasoned. The only item on the plate I didn't like was the popper -- but only because it was waaay too hot for me. My sister thoroughly enjoyed her waffle. I had a small bite & agree it was also delicious.
Staff: our server was Sammy (Sammie?) and the mixologist was Graham. Both were wonderful: friendly, smiling, helpful, & just all around nice. Sammy never forgot us. Despite being relatively busy, she continually kept returning to our table, asking if we needed anything. Graham was just as friendly & seemed genuinely pleased each time we complimented the drinks.
I want to visit Loveland again and I guarantee you, Taste Local will be at the top of my list of places to visit...
Read moreWe came here with our family for Mother’s Day and it was my first time here. I have to say the experience was very unimpressive.
We had 5 different staff members helping our small(ish) party of 8 and as a result, we had to ask for the same things multiple times from multiple different wait staff and overall, it just seems like they didn’t have a lot of experience and were very inefficient in how things ran.
From the outset, we mentioned to the waitress that there was a strawberry allergy so that it didn’t come as a surprise when the course containing strawberry’s came around. As a result, two people at our table (one who didn’t even have a strawberry allergy) were just totally skipped on that course. We were told by one wait staff that they offered French toast as an alternative and we confirmed that that would be perfect. When we asked the particular waitstaff where her dish was, along with the person who just didn’t get the strawberry dish, the individual replied with a bit of an attitude “Oh, did you want them!? “My bad!” despite it being obvious that we wanted them because we were asking about the dishes and we certainly paid for them.
They serve their coffee cream in these little mason jars. Not really my style and it seems silly but that’s beside the point. They don’t pour well and one of our tables mason jars had spoiled creamer.
We had to ask for silverware multiple times and waited 10+ minutes to get it.
The first dish had the choice of salmon or lions main mushrooms. 3 of our table ordered the lions main and the rest ordered salmon. They tried to bring everyone salmon at first and when corrected, the lions main dishes came out after everyone with the salmon dishes were already done.
The second dish with the fried plantains had good flavor but was cold and I suspect it’s because of the poor pacing from the first serving (15+ minutes passed).
There were more issues but I think you get the idea.
It was Mother’s Day and we sincerely didn’t want to make much of a fuss or ruin the day. These guys were busy but you can only excuse so much. Our Mother’s Day experience was poor at best. It’s unlikely I’ll be back and I can’t say I’d recommend Taste...
Read moreIt takes a lot for me to leave a review but I feel like this experience needed to be shared. I do want to start by saying, I love supporting local/small business especially when they source locally. THANK YOU!
This was my husband and I's first time here along with some friends of ours who had also never been here. Based on reading reviews beforehand, Taste Local seemed like quite the spot, however, upon getting there, it felt like chaos. We couldn't figure out who to speak to about finding a table and once we did, they seemed disinterested and bothered. We sat down, waited close to 20 min for water and silverware and then another 15 min before someone asked if we would like anything to drink. Close to 40 min in (which is strange seeing as how there's a note on the table saying they cap you at 1hr), we were able to place our order by someone we have no idea what her name was because she never introduced herself. To be honest, no one did. Our food arrived somewhat warm, the 'fruit' that came with it was 1 chunk of pineapple and 1 strawberry, the Eggs Benedict included barely cooked fried eggs (normally they are poached) and the ham that came on it was 1/2" thick and almost impossible to cut through. I feel very uncomfortable approaching waitstaff as it is but I felt like there was no way to let anyone know because it wasn't until we were done, did they come back to give us our check. Not a single question was asked if the food was good. To be honest, it was mediocre at best. My husband has been in the restaurant industry for years and I come from a family who owns restaurants, yet I still approach experiences like this in a fair manner. Taste Local has incredible potential, but sadly it wasn't displayed this morning. The irony lies in the name-that if you want people to 'taste' what is around them, the environment it is served in should match it. Your waitstaff and food...
