We had an early reservation at the Loveland Chophouse (as we have an adult son, with disabilities, which makes things just a tad easier) and were greeted by a group of very friendly folks at the front reception station. We were seated immediately in the very back booth - which was perfect for us and our son, who can tend to make "happy sounds." Our server Audrey (sp?) was amazing from start to finish, with exceptional knowledge of every facet of the meal: drinks, specials, menu. All of the people helping with our table were excellent and I particularly enjoyed talking with our bartender, who had crushed my Manhattan order (neat and just a bit sweet); letting me know he had added some cherry juice, from the cherries used in his cocktails, to add a hint of sweetness and some depth to my cocktail... awesome! Our meals were amazing, my wife had the chicken marsala with a risotto side, my son had the 18 oz. cowboy cut ribeye (bone in), which was done to perfection, and finally, I had the lobster ravioli, with a wedge salad. In total, these meals were absolutely carried off to perfection! My son also had the regular fries with his ribeye, which I have to say were some of the best fries I had ever had... really! They were wonderfully seasoned, which I couldn't put my finger on, but regardless, they shone! To close out the evening, we split a creme brulee, and it was to die for; the sugar crust perfectly fired, and the custard, just right! The vibe was so cool, sort of dinner house refined, but with a hip, chic undertone... great stuff!
A couple of things to think about, the wedge was a tad small, yet still quite good, with a great mix of toppings: bacon, tomatoes, bleu cheese dressing and crumbles, yet still small. And, parking was hunt and peck, with street parking available, but scarce, and a lot right behind the restaurant, but full. But again, these issues were minimal and definitely did not take away from the overall experience.
This was an absolutely awesome experience! Thanks Audrey and everyone at Loveland Chophouse, for making our evening unforgettable,...
Read moreNot Gluten Free Friendly!! I was attracted to this restaurant because their menu showed three different gluten categories; GF-GLUTEN-FREE, GM-GLUTEN-FREE MODIFICATION, and GY-GLUTEN-FRIENDLY. But my actual experience at the restaurant was totally different. First the menu presented to me did not have any of the gluten options listed on it. When I asked for the gluten free menu, my server told me there was none. She also was not very familiar with what items were gluten free. I was told by her that if I wanted a gluten free roll it would cost $3.
DRESS CODE The web site lists a dress code so we got more dressed up than normal. And it was what we were looking for, a more formal evening out. But it was not being observed. We saw everything from hoodies to T shirts. So dress normally, whatever makes you comfortable.
STARTERS Turns out the only starter that was gluten friendly, other than scallops and mussels which I don’t care for, is the Carcuterier Board, a meat and cheese platter. But at $22.95 it is way more than I want to pay for a starter for two people.
ENTREES The only gluten free listed are mushroom caps, scallops, and tuna. I suspect you can get a steak gluten free but they are not listed on the online menu.
SIDES Very limited for a supposedly high end restaurant. No scallop potatoes or baked potatoes. Only mashed potato’s and fries which were coated with wheat.
My wife had the soup of the day which was corn chowder and gluten free. It was good. We then had the Tournedos au Poivre. I could not have the sauce that came with it because of the wheat in it. The chef did substitute a Marcela sauce but charged $2.50 because of the change. The steaks were good but the mashed potatoes were not very hot.
Bottom line, a not very gluten free friendly place with decent food and limited selection and relatively high prices. We had two bowls of soup and two entrees for...
Read moreWe came here for our daughter's birthday and we were disappointed. I feel bad she wasn't happy with her food. The ambience of the place was great. The server was friendly. We did enjoy the truffle fries; that was really good. However, the steaks were not all that great. When you first see "market price" on the menu, you'd think "hmm...must be really good steaks!". Then again, even the chicken had "market price" on it, which was kind of weird, when you see a price for Chicken Marsala at the bottom. What's the difference with that chicken and the one above it? Anyway, three of us ordered the 8oz top sirloin, since the steaks were pretty pricey. The inside of the steak may be cooked as described (medium rare) but the outsides were hard and charred...and a little wet?? (Were they boiled?) They did not look very appetizing, honestly. I ordered mushrooms for topping so I expected them to be on top of my steak but they came later, as a side, as whole mushrooms. My daughter and her dad got the compound butter as their steak topping but it did nothing to enhance the steak. It tasted blah...plain. We have had much better compound butter than that! My other daughter got the chicken marsala. She barely touched the chicken because it was so dry and hard. The side of risotto looked like grits or maybe like pig slop, but once you take a bite of it, it was quite hard -- no, no, it was not al dente, it was hard like rice that is not cooked well. My birthday girl decided to have it changed to mashed potatoes and that was not any better, it was dry. She did get a free chocolate cake for dessert because it was her birthday, and that was good. So to sum it up, the atmosphere was good, server was nice, the appetizer and dessert were good but the main dishes were way overpriced for what they were. If you want steak or chicken, this is not the...
