Today I took some friends to the museum to see the local history rooms. I had been bragging about the museum for sometime….so we planned a day with lunch and a trip to the museum. I told everyone it was free admission (to see the local history rooms) and I googled to confirm the free admission…which google AI replied: “General admission to the Loveland Museum, including the local history exhibits, is free. Children 12 and under also have free admission. However, there may be special exhibits that have a separate admission fee.” When we arrived Chloe (front desk) told us there was an admission…$7 residents and $10 for nonresidents. I told her your social media and google says it’s free and we made a special trip (in the snow). But she made no accommodations….so we left. I’m submitting this review because I was going to the information from not only their social media but also Google. I was very disappointed that she couldn’t and wouldn’t see the mistake was on their end. She then showed me a list of dates when there wouldn’t be an admission fee…but not today. My business has hundreds of five stars because I don’t have an admission and if I would ever change it…I would wave it if I learned I had forgotten to make the adjustments on my...
Read moreI live nearby and try to come here multiple times a year at minimum. Recently I went through the weaving exhibits 6 times with a different person each time because as a weaver I wanted my close people in my life to see these exhibits with me. I'm disabled and sometimes I use my mobility aid and other time I can't. The Loveland Museum has 2 wheelchairs available for those who need it for their time at the museum, staff is very kind and accommodating. There's enough space within the museum galleries to move around in the wheelchair the museum provides.
There are many free exhibits. Some are only there for a limited time, most of the museum is permanent about the history of Loveland Colorado. My favorite fixed exhibit is the one on our sweetheart Valentine Remailing program that runs every February. There is one paid exhibit and the museum offers discounts on the tickets for elderly and low income people, the full price tickets are much lower than tickets for museum exhibits at larger museums such as...
Read moreThe Loveland Museum is small, but mighty, with a surprising number of functions packed into a limited space.
The museum was founded in 1937 by local author and mountain guide, Harold Dunning, who had begun to collect historical memorabilia around 1919. Today it is an accredited art and history museum with a vibrant schedule of events and classes.
Half of the museum covers the history of the area, highlighting Great Western Sugar (sugar beets), which was the major local employer in the first half of the 20th century.
There is a small, but interesting gift shop and a basement auditorium, but the other key function of the museum is art exhibits of local, regional, and national interest. The north wing of the museum is a large gallery space. The auditorium and mezzanine are also used for art display.
The museum has presented very well-curated exhibits over the years and I often enjoy making the long drive from Denver to...
