The last and final racist experience I hope I will ever have at Club Diner in downtown Lowell. After a night of drinking (water and a whiskey sour, that's one whiskey sour so I wasn't drunk or belligerent), I was waiting for my uber ride by the gas station near club diner. I suddenly needed to pee and my uber ride was 10 mins away. I asked my brother in law William (who is White) where the nearest bathroom was and he told me I could go to club diner and pee because HE HAS DONE IT BEFORE. I wasn't sure because I had boycotted club diner after previous experience of feeling uncomfortable every time I was there because of how I was treated and also because fox news was usually on the screen and the vibe was just that. But I was desperate so... I went up to the counter at club diner with my brother Martin and asked the waitress who has served me in the past if I could please use the bathroom and she flat out told me there was no bathroom. Clearly she was lying, so I asked her where the nearest bathroom was and she said the Worthen (which was closed as it was 2am). My brother simply said I'll buy something so I can use it and she said no, but at that point I was disappointed and knew she clearly did not want me to use it so I left. Because I still needed to pee (I'm human), while I waited for my uber, my brother went back and said he'll pay for a full meal if I can just pee, no one has to make the meal he'll just pay so I can pee. He was told I couldn't because it's only for paying customers (that is the mythical bathroom that did not previously exist), so if he paid only he could use it. He asked again and she walked away without answering. Luckily 5 mins later the uber arrived. My brother in law wanted to go back and let her know he had used the facilities before without paying by simply coming in and asking to use the bathroom (sometimes after a night of drinking) but at that point I was just disappointed. My expectations where already low but after tonight, it was just shocking to have my previous perceptions of the place confirmed. My brother, sister, and brother in law were there for me and stood up for me but I'm still so shocked by how different I'm treated based on the hue of my...
Read moreLong time customer, last time visit. For some reason today's visit went absolutely horrible. Seems like you have to be a known customer to get good service at this place. Sat for 15 minutes before the waitress even acknowledged our presence. Waitress hurried thru our order. Ordered a meal that comes with 3 eggs and simply asked if the eggs could be placed in a to go box for my wife at home. You might have thought I just asked for her kidney. Told me that the cook does not have time for special orders. So I told her to put the eggs on a separate plate and bring out a to go box and I would just put them in myself. She requested the cook to put them in a to go box and the cook said "he would put them in a suitcase for Christ sake". Food came fast. Drinks came half way thru the meal and had to request them from the waitress. Looks like my 3 eggs turned into 1 egg and counted exactly 10 homefries on my plate and sausages where way under cooked. Definitely made us feel unwelcome and as if we were a burden to even be there. And the waitress kept mentioning about the eggs going in a to go box every encounter. This place used to be on point but not any more. Cook does not have time to put eggs in a to go box but has plenty of time to come out to the dining area and talk trash with the waitress loudly and openly about other customers...
Read moreHey everyone! Big foodie here. I just ate at a place called the club diner. It’s a small little place. Parking is fairly decent for a small place. Walking in the environment is quiet and has an old-fashioned jukebox and the atmosphere is just amazing. Our server came up to us. She was absolutely perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a better server. Her personality was amazing. She was bubbly. She was smiley. All around great human being. The food prices are amazing and oh my God, the food! We ate breakfast. I got a steak sandwich that was just amazing. Don’t even get me started on potatoes. This place was one of the perfect diamonds that ended up taking a hit during the Covid run. And they are having trouble making ends meet. So the next time you decide that you wanna go for a trip up to Massachusetts and you’re hungry skip the fast food come here! You will not be sorry. Thank you to the wonderful waitress that served us and the owner of the diner as well...
