Came here today excited bc I thought I'd eaten here before but I guess maybe not. I ordered goat egg biriani, goat saag, butter chicken, chilli Naan, garlic Naan, saffron rice, and dessert. I asked that the butter chicken be mild bc it was for a kid, but the rest was medium and the woman I ordered from told me the chilli Naan was REALLY spicy and asked me if I was sure I wanted it, etc like I should be concerned that the spice would be too much for me, I explained that I had eaten here before and that I wanted spice. Got it home and started eating and everything is super bland, like I seriously am so disappointed right now. Not even the chilli naan was spicy, like, at all. I am aware I'm white but that doesn't mean I can't handle food tasting good, it didn't taste bad but it wasn't like any other Indian food experience I've ever had, it was the food equivalent of the color bigger. Totally unremarkable, not bad but definitely NOT what you go to an international restaurant to experience. Maybe it was because other people complained that it was too spicy before or something? In a normal world you don't go to an Indian restaurant expecting food to taste bland and boring. Hopefully they just looked at me and made an assumption bc if that is what they are serving everyone, then they either have a customer base of people who don't really like authentic Indian cuisene or they might not be around long bc honestly I don't work hard to have the ability to purchase the experience of international food to have it taste like something I could get at a diner that serves rice and meat on a plate. I'm sorry that I even have to write a terrible review like this but maybe they can fix this for other people by actually wielding the expert level use of spices that most people expect when they go to eat at an Indian spot. I even left a 25% tip on a take out order in anticipation of a delicious meal and they ARE very nice, don't get me wrong, they are lovely people and the place is clean and it's very nice but I have never been more disappointed and a bit mad too bc I don't understand WHYYYY they would think I want flavorless food. Like, it wasn't just not hot as in use of chilles and curry type spices, I mean everything was missing, the cardamom, the clove, the cinnamon, the fennel, the cumin, the coriander~ none of these flavors were presented. It definitely had turmeric bc of the color, but other than the color and the taste of ghee or cooking oil, it was flavorless. It's not me bc at least the Chai had the flavors it was supposed to, but even the chai could have been spicier. I'm not some nasty Karen, but hopefully when everyone sees the review they will know they probably need to explain in detail to the person taking your order that the whole reason for coming there is to experience the use of spices, otherwise you'd be fine just going to any boring Americanized Asian cuisine place. The confusing part is, I'm pretty sure I came here a few months ago and it was good, that's why I was so generous tip wise and that's why I had such a big order, but I don't know what happened but it has changed. Maybe a new chef, I don't know. Sadly, I wish I'd saved my money bc I was so disappointed bc it's not what I WANTED, when you travel to a place and take the time and your hard earned money to purchase goods or services, you usually expect a bit of consistency in the quality of said goods and services. I have never had Indian food anywhere (and I eat a lot of international style food bc I think they use spice in a tastier way than American fare) that tasted this lifeless and boring. Honestly, as hungry as I was I ate a few bites and gave up. Maybe I'll get out my curry powder and garam masala and season what's left myself later and eat it, idk. The most confusing part was the big deal made about the chilli Naan only to have it not really taste like anything. Sorry guys, but this just tasted...

Read moreMy wife and I have been eating Indian food for a long time, around 30 years. We seek out Indian when we vacation, and have eaten at all the local establishments. We have our local buffet place, and our local dine in/take out place. We have eaten Monsoon’s buffet a few times over the past year, more so as a change from our favorite place. Quite frankly, the food on the buffet to our taste was bland and that’s why we wouldn’t frequent often. Well, that is no longer the case. Since their relaunch last week (Wednesday I believe), I have already eaten here twice. I’m already wanting to come back. No longer the traditional buffet, it’s the best of most worlds with their new lunch special. Choose 3 dishes, they come out fresh and you can get as much as you want of them. The flavors, ridiculously good. The first time I got Butter Chicken, Saag Paneer and Dal. They all were so flavorful. This time I got Chicken Korma, Paneer Butter Masala, and Saag Paneer. The wife and son came this time and ordered different items. All of them so good. Monsoon pivoted, and it is such a great thing they did. Do your tastebuds a flavor and give them a try, or a second chance if all you did before was have their buffet. It’s not even close to what you had before. I have found my new “buffet” place with this lunch special, and knowing how great their fresh food is, my new dine in/take out too. Can’t wait...
