The food was amazing! Got the Cafe Mess- highly recommended!

The potatoes could have been cooked a little longer as some were not cooked completely, and the wait time for the food to come out was a little frustrating.. it took about 40 minutes to even get our food and we overheard a table behind us complaining once they got their food that it had taken them almost an hour to get theirs and they had to send pancakes back because they were so cold butter wouldn't even melt on them. The waitress got snippy telling them it wasn't her fault, that the kitchen was backed up and then stated she was the manager (why?). Excuses don't need to be made, just make it right so people can enjoy a nice hot meal, especially for the prices here. That turned me off greatly coming from a 'manager'. Go help your kitchen if they are that backed up, especially since it wasn't even that busy and there were open tables. Teamwork.

We stopped in for lunch as first-timers that come to New Ken from time to time, and wow! This diner knocked it out of the park. As others have said, it doesn’t look like much from the outside but it has a very cozy diner atmosphere inside. I had the Junkyard burger (brisket, bbq, bacon) and fries and this thing was enormous, juicy, and delicious. My wife got the country side breakfast combo which was also huge, big heaps of potatoes, fresh biscuits and gravy, perfectly cooked eggs. Prices were more than reasonable for the amount and quality of the food.

The service was also great, we never had to ask for refills and were taken care of. We will definitely come back here when we’re in the area again. It hit the spot on all levels!

My girlfriend & I went here a couple weeks back and we really liked the food but the service was terrible. We sat at a table in the middle of the dining room and the waitstaff walked the perimeter and checked on the booths never acknowledged us. They were a little busy no big deal, then another couple come in and they sit at a booth and got service right away at this point it's been about 8 or 9 minutes since we sat down. Was about ready to leave after another 5 minutes, when a waitress finally came over and apologized for not getting to us. It was still spotty service even after the apology.
