STAY AWAY!!!
My friends and I arrived for our 7:30pm reservation and were seated promptly. The server came over after about 10 minutes and took our drink order and appetizers. The dining room was relatively quiet. it took over 20 minutes to receive our drinks only after complaining to the waitress and over 30 minutes to receive appetizers which came out wrong (spinach dip and brussel sprouts). We politely express our concerns about the ridiculously long wait time.
Now to the entrees, the table ordered Seabass, Grouper w/petite salad, NY Strip w/Chef sauce, grilled onions, and broccolini. At 9:15 we still were waiting on our food. So this time we requested that a manager visit our table. Manager/Owner Jenny came to our table and we expressed to her the dissatisfaction with our service and food so far. Jenny gave us a bunch of excuses (the kitchen is short, the kitchen staff is not as experienced BLAH BLAH!!) Our food finally came out around 9:30, completely not what was described on the menu. Seabass and Grouper had a VERY UNPLEASANT ODOR(it was bad) Grouper was supposed to come with a petite salad but it was plated with some unknown orange mash(maybe butternut squash who knows) the Seabass came with nothing on the plate, the steak came with nothing on the plate, it was supposed to have broccolini. We requested to speak with the Owner/ Jenny AGAIN!! We told her both the Seabass and Grouper had a HEAVY HEAVY UNPLEASANT ODOR (everyone at the table could smell the STENCH). My friend asked where was her petite salad that was described on the menu. They brought her a petite salad with some white-looking meat on top. She asked the waitress what was the white stuff and the waitress responded "Feta Cheese" That was a LIE!! It was SEAFOOD... How do you mistake seafood for cheese? (SMH) At this point, we were fed up and sent ALL our food back and requested the bill. Jenny returned to the and made the statement "What Now?" and stated she would be discounting our food. ( Umm, Don't you think?)
The bill arrived at the table totaling $240, we were like WTH!!!. That was with NO Food. There was $65 worth of Gratuity on the bill. We were like so we paying Gratuity on food we didn't eat? Wow!! That's unheard of...
So to sum it up. The owner/Jenny's attitude was shockingly dismissive, as if customer satisfaction was an inconvenience her refusal to acknowledge the subpar quality of the food and the abysmal service, and her lack of attentiveness, were disappointing. Despite the clear DISSATISFACTION with the meals, there lack of accountability and customer-oriented service. This experience has left a sour taste, both literally and figuratively, making me state I will NEVER NEVER RETURN to...
Read moreDrove by this restaurant many times and finally decided to give it a shot, boy what a mistake that was. I had pretty much the same experience as many of the other 1 star reviews here; a cute little bar/restaurant with ok food but incredibly slow and poor service. For starters, it took quite a while for a host to even acknowledge and seat us at a table. When she finally did, the restaurant had apparently run out of menus so they were sending someone to print more?? Can’t say I’ve ever seen a restaurant run out of menus before but I guess there’s a first time for everything. We probably should have taken this as a red flag and gone somewhere else but we were still willing to give Maxwell’s a chance. Like mountaineers hiking to our doom, we pressed on and ordered a couple of drinks and appetizers. It took over an hour to get our drinks and appetizers out to our table and this was with me flagging down the wait staff several times to ask about our food. Eventually two of our three orders arrive, what happened to our last and final order you might ask? Well according to one waiter, they had ran out of artichoke dip while another waiter told us, shortly after the first, that the dip the kitchen had made was not up to his standards and he was unwilling to serve it to us. Again, another odd experience but thanks I guess from saving our table the troubles of eating a bad spinach dip. The restaurant staff should probably get their story straight for the next person who tries to order the dip though. Halfway through eating our appetizers, another waitress approached us with a Negroni that no one had ordered, it was at this point our party decided to call it quits and try our luck at another restaurant. The cherry on top was they for some reason decided to put the artichoke dip, which we never got, and the Negroni, which we never ordered, on our check. A quick talk to the waitress was all was needed to get things corrected but it felt like Maxwell was just rubbing salt into the wound at this point. So all in all, I would recommend Maxwell’s Plum if you’re looking to kill a couple of hours and have nothing else going on in your life; or if you’re looking for a unique and novel, for better or worse,...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed at the Management, Staff and Food at Maxwell Plum. My girlfriends and I were so excited to have dinner here last night. Our fun-filled "ladies night" turned into a disaster visiting this restaurant. Before I divulge into our horrible experience, I will at least say that place is beautiful and the drinks are good. Now for the bad part...... Our drinks took about 25 minutes to arrive Our appetizers came out 25 minutes after our drinks, which had bacon (allergies) all over the Brussel sprouts after asking multiple times to make sure there was no bacon. Both orders of our Grouper entrees were ROTTEN!! You could smell the rot of the fish once you cut it. I wanted to vomit. Thank God we didn't eat it. The side options that came with our entrees were either unavailable or not "fresh enough" to serve, according to the manager. So they took it upon themselves to give us other side options we didn't ask for nor could identify what the side order was. Our steak was served without the appropriate toppings and was plated as if they were serving a dog. The manager was rude and came to our table asking "now, what?". The level of patience it took for us not to tell her how we really felt, was strong. After our horrible encounter with the food, they reduced 75% of the bill but left the gratuity of 22% from the original charges. When we asked for the manager, she refused to come to the table. So unprofessional!
We will NEVER come back here again. I should have read the reviews before dining here. As a Wellington resident, I am so disappointed. This restaurant and the management need to re-vamp the customer service, the quality and safety of the food, and restructure their mandatory gratuity on...
