Candle Bar — Restaurant in Lubbock

The staff was very nice and attentive. I really wanted to love it here for my birthday but was let down hard by the food and drink. I wouldn't recommend at all, unfortunately. We had bruschetta, arancini, house special arribiatta, and cacio e pepe. The bruschetta ficoccia did not seem fresh and the bread to topping ratio was way off, too dry. Arancini was good but non-traditional in small size. Entrees were WAY too small for the price. I got the $12 chicken and it was a dry and flavorless breast on top of my noodles. The spaghetti was broken up into like 2 to 3 inch strands..very odd and also dry and lacking flavor. Hate to say, but it really doesn't seem like they put a lot of thought into good quality ingredients or preparation. The atmosphere was cool for drinks, but had a weird smell. It didn't smell like food at all which wasn't appetizing! My partner commented that it smelled like chemicals, to me it smelled of a hair perm. My husband and I went to Candle Bar for the first time last night. As soon as we walked in we both thought it smelled like a nail salon and it was very off putting. We realized that there is a nail salon 2 doors down if you count the home decor shop attached to the restaurant as a separate store. We finally became nose blind to the smell thankfully. We both ordered drinks, myself a cocktail and my husband a glass of wine. We split the burrata which was good but extremely small and underwhelming. Myself and two friends attempted to enjoy a girls night here and had horrible service. We did not make a reservation but the host reassured us we could be seated at a table quickly. Upon sitting down we were given food menus and silverware but no cocktail menu or waters and no server. After waiting 30 minutes, we finally stopped a nearby waitress for assistance. The waitress was serving the table directly next to us that had just sat down and was already ordering. We were provided cocktail menus and water and told we would be assisted soon.
