We were a party of two that was seated promptly. It had been 4-5 years since we had ate at Cheddar's since we weren't in the area recently. Decided to give it a try since in the past it was a good experience typically.
We were seated promptly just in time to wait 10+ minutes for a waiter to come introduce herself thinking that some complementary honey butter rolls would make up the delay. (Nice gesture, but we typically don't eat anything sweet). Our waiter left us with the rolls and we waited another 5 minutes before she reappeared to take our drink order.
We ordered two drinks from the bar and they delivered quickly but were less than subpar. (2) Margarita's that had very little flavor or desire. Guess we should have gone to a Mexican Restaurant.
Once we ordered food, two entrees were received about 20 minutes later and one of the entrees was not as ordered. The server explained the menu was incorrect and that we should have simply requested the sauce that was listed on the menu because the menu was incorrect. (Never informed prior to order or asked).
Food was less than enjoyable, simply bland and nothing to be excited about. It seemed that zero seasoning was present. I always take leftovers due to serving sizes being absolutely insane these days at restaurants, however we left everything behind this time. I even offered a bite to my wife to make sure I wasn't missing something. Apparently the kitchen missed their part. (We eat out quite often lately, especially moving back to Lubbock recently). Unfortunately this has been our worst experience in the past 2.5 months.
I would like a response from management, I'm hoping that we had an off experience. If that's not the case, which I find hard to believe, please find a new position for the waiter as she should probably stick to cleaning tables due to her attentiveness and her ability to comprehend a menu and what should be delivered.
I hardly ever review restaurants, especially recently due to staffing shortages and the supply chain shortages around the country caused by our terrible leadership in this country. (Another story for another day).
As we know in customer service, a bad experience - a customer will tell 10+ friends about. However a positive experience most customers will tell less than 3 about things about because there is nothing to complain about.
Something to consider when spending our hard earned money these...
Read moreSo I really wanted to give these folks 5 stars! I may even edit my review later. Here's the problem: my service was sub par. Now, I normally don't mind sub par service. That is because, having been a General Manager for most of my career, I can normally observe circumstances which explain how steps of service might get omitted. Today, however, there was simply no explanation. My partner and I sat at the bar top making us the only bar guests for 2/3 of the time that I was there. One additional table set in the bar for the last third bringing the total number of parties seated at the bar to two. Given that most restaurants with bars promote bartenders from members of the waitstaff, one might reasonably expect to receive at least the same sort of standards of service Cheddars requires at all locations. Unfortunately I left disappointed with those reasonable expectations unmet. Greyson, the bartender, literally only made our alcoholic beverages and entered our order into the POS system. The rest of the time we were there he was busy eating behind the bar and making himself root beer floats and telling other servers they didn't have to take any more tables when the manager on duty declined to tell said server he was cut. That is all taking place, mind you, for the short time he was even behind the bar. Where was he? Visiting just inside the kitchen door! Not pre-busing, he passed that off to another server, not running our food, he waited until someone else brought it. Then, the Manager on Duty walks by and doesn't even speak to us, the only guests in the bar nor hang out long enough to catch what was going on. I love Cheddar's, and I hope someone somewhere in the chain of command reads this and uses it as an opportunity to intervene before what appears to be a systemic issue ruins a perfectly fun and delicious...
Read moreThis is a review about an experience over the course of 2 nights. I had such a good experience the first night that I decided to order food here again rather than chance being disappointed somewhere else. I’m staying in a hotel in Lubbock often right now and this will continue to be a stop for me. I can promise you that.
First off- it was done early when I went to pick it up. The male waiter who delivered my food was awesome and friendly! He even ran back out to deliver chicken tenders that had missed the bag and he was so considerate and wanted to make sure I got home with all my items. :)
What I ordered: • trio sampler (chicken tenders, salsa, spinach dip & chips) • key west chicken with a house salad and broccoli rice casserole
Every. Single. Thing. was cooked perfectly and was delicious! I had ranch for my salad, all of my dips and the chicken was delicious! My only minor complaint is I love the sauce that comes on the side of this dish and I didn’t get it in my takeout BUT it was flavored in the rice and on the chicken so maybe at this cheddars they put it in the dish beforehand. I got my complimentary croissant and even napkins and flatware!
The second night I really wanted chicken fried chicken, I ordered the single cfc, they sent it out with the gravy on the side and enough gravy for my chicken and mashed potatoes. My sweet peach tea was perfect and so was my salad. It was so good I didn’t get a single photo for the review I knew I was going to write.
They nailed the kind of service that you are grateful for after a long visit in a hospital, away from your home, when you still crave good home cooked food. Thank...
