My family loves McAlister’s. We have been fans since my husband’s Ole Miss days in Oxford. Today we stopped for lunch in Lufkin, TX, well after the church crowd had passed, and we ordered online before arriving. We gave our name to an employee, and we were immediately brought our drinks - which we took, and we sat down. There were lots of empty tables, none of which had been cleaned, so we picked the least cluttered booth. The floor was covered with spilled drinks, Mac and cheese, and trash. We sat for about 20 minutes, so I went to the counter to remind them we were there and where we were sitting. Ten more minutes and I went back up to ask if our food was ready. It was sitting, bagged up in the kitchen. I took it to sit with my family. Our toasted sandwiches were cold. My husband’s side dish was missing - so this time my daughter went to get it. The manager walked past us at least 5 times while we were there and never once addressed us or asked if we needed anything. Worst experience in a...
Read moreWhen McAlisters Deli first opened, I wanted to like them. I am a hughe fan of a Reuben sandwich so that's what I got. It was very skimpy and made incorrectly. I could have made ten of them at home and the way I wanted to for the same cost. I didn't go back for a while. When I went back I feel in love with the Southwest Chicken Avacado salad. I went once a week to get one. Over time it got to where they would screw up my order, EVERY TIME. No, chicken, no avacado, no onion, wrong dressing, too little chicken, too little avacado. This was BEFORE Covid! I stopped going. I haven't been in over a year until tonight. I asked for a tea, not sweet, I'm diabetic and chiote ranch with my salad. Of course they screwed it up!!! I got funky lime dressing and sweet tea. I'm finally done with McAlisters. I know mistakes happen but for as many times as other places get things right, McAlisters gets it consistently wrong. Chili's has a very similar salad that is better and cheaper. I won't...
Read moreJust ate here. Had the roast beef and cheddar with red onions and horseradish plus a cup of broccoli cheddar soup. It was delicious and the price was nice! The soup had real cheese and not some yellowish brine that other places have. The sandwich had ciabatta bread and was lightly toasted. The meat was tasty and the cheese was very tasty. The staff was knowledgeable and it's a spacious room. Out of all the sandwich shops I've ever eaten at I would say this one is the best. If this is an example of a Texas deli then New York delis need to learn from this! More room, more meat, and...
