The Mill House — Restaurant in Lufkin

Going in, the atmosphere was crisp and inviting. Greeting at the door was less then. "How many? Sit wherever you like." The pictures and preconceived notion was definitely not delivered. While the waitstaff was kind, they were not in tune to the establishment. They lacked knowledge of the menu and personality. The food was excellent. We had basic American plates, so judging was simple. What did stick out, like sore thumb, was the treatment one table received. It looked as though some special folks showed up and received special treatment. Rather simple "special treatment" I must say. "Hey, what's up? What can I get you". But they were hosted by, what I can only assume is the owner. Or, at the very least, the manager. Nonetheless, the rest of the restaurant was not on their level. Mehh, I'm nobody special, and don't need to be treated as such but hospitality is part of the dining out experience. And the highest level of that hospitality was only bestowed upon one table at this establishment. Even without that experience, the whole place was lots of look, not much delivery. Would I go again? Sure. But definitely know what...

Normally, we have enjoyed our visits to this place. Today was just short of a Greek tragedy. We sat down and were ignored by passing waitresses for about 15min. We finally ordered and 45 min later we received our food. What we received was completely different from what we ordered and had to send it back. I spoke to the manager who did address the issue but blamed it on the new crew and being busy. When we got the meals back mine was still wrong. The point of addressing it was not to place blame. Feedback from customers is supposed to help a manager improve. This guy though he comped us the meal and apologized did so, oozing with attitude. The worst part is we were more than willing to pay for the meal regardless. A apology means squat when you are doing it to shut a customer up and not fix the issue.

On the plus side the food was decent. The chicken and dumplings were good and the chicken salad was a delight. The greek flat bread was very tastey. Too bad attitudes ruined the experience.

We won't be returning. I can handle mistakes in food and service, but I can't handle the bad attitude...

Arrived at 12:45 on Wed, Feb 9th. They were busy. We were told to sit anywhere. So the only place we could find was in the back and it was two tables together to seat 4. When the waitress came over, she asked how many people and we said two. She said you can't sit here. So she lead us to another table upfront that was for 4 people. Huh???? She proceeded to remove the cases of beer from the chairs at this table. She gave us menus and said I will be back. Well,. That was not the case. After 10 minutes she never returned to take drink orders or our order!!!!! She was going back to the tables all around us to see if they needed anything else. Now, they had already been served and I am sure a tip was in mind. Well,. We did not need to wait any longer to be ignored. So we left and went to Another place to eat. We were not ignored there. I will not recommend this place or even go back. Hope this...
