Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Lumberton

Five out of five of the last times that I’ve been to this particular location I have had to leave empty-handed. I grew up on churches chicken. It’s been a staple in my household for as long as I can remember. I’m 56 now. By far this location is the absolute worst experience I have had with churches chicken in my entire life. They have really gone down. The last three times I’ve come it was close to closing time and every time they’re already counting the till and mopping the floor. Apparently nobody wants to work anymore because business hours are the hours you’re open and serving, not the hours that you’re cleaning and closing up. If you’re only gonna service your customers until 830 then please update your hours of operation because I drive 60 miles round trip to get your chicken and then have to leave and try to find something else to feed my family. The last time I came through the drive-through, a young man with a broom in his hand yelled out the back door, we close at nine. I yelled back. Is it nine? (That was rhetorical ) because it wasn’t. Nobody answered the speaker and when I drove around to the window the young lady had the till out and was closing up shop. I make it a rule of thumb to not leave bad reviews but when they are deserved, I will definitely leave one and believe me y’all have gone out of your way to deserve this one… you have broken my tradition to choose churches over other national brands. Shame on you Church’s. Never again. Jenny’s in Kirbyville is my new tradition. You can still call in your order and not have to worry about using some cheesy app and they greet you with a smile. I’ve tried calling churches before leaving my house to place an order and the phone just rings and rings until it hangs up every single time. I reiterate, Shame on...

I went the other afternoon to order a family meal. They said that there were only two biscuits left and that the manager was at Walmart getting biscuits.... I said not a problem can you just sub it for something else? The assistant manager was not sure, so she said she would call her manager. The assistant manager came back and said her manager said no, we can not sub the biscuits for anything else. So I'm like ??? What next? She said I could wait for them to drop more biscuits and it would be 15 mins.... Soo which is it... you have biscuits and they are just not baked, or your manager is out buying biscuits because you're out? And why exactly couldn't you sub it with something else??? 🤨 I could understand if it was just that they were really busy and she had to drop some more, but the statement given to me made it seem like there was just no biscuits and the manager was out buying some. So my options were wait 15 minutes for biscuits that you supposedly didn't have.. or just not have biscuits and Church's could just care less that I paid for them. Those are not options.... I don't know what is going on with customer service as far as new managers go, but this is not it. I decided to go to chicken express. I won't be back here for a hot minute. What's sad is I chose Church's because we get bad customer service at Popeyes. The last time we went to Church's, the jalapeno poppers were pretty much empty. I'm not sure what is going on with...

So this is my 12th review (at least) and I cannot give it more than ZERO but i have to give it 1 because thats the only choice. 6:00 on a Saturday night..same song and dance..ordered a 12 piece leg and thigh with 2 large sides. $2 upcharge because I wanted fries instead of mashed potatoes and cole slaw. I got 12 thighs..no LEGS...NONE, ZIP, ZERO, ZILCH....Does not say extra charte for substitutions....nor does it say 12 dark pieces...it says 12 piece legs and thighs, which means I should have 6 of each. Do not go to this location. I've been away a few months because I was assured things would be fixed. They haven't, weren't, and arent. 6/9/18..... 935 on a Sat night and they are closed. Saturday night... 930....really? ...this is my second review.. It is 630 on a Thursday and im told they have no chicken.. 15-20 minute wait... At a chicken place... Why? You have a 14 piece special but you have no chicken to sell unless u wait 20 minutes. This is the third time this has happened. Another review... And the stars aren't changing.... Visited at 535 this evening... Service has really not improved. Sat at the window, paid for order, and waited 12 minutes for fries. fries.. 12...
