Batter Bar — Restaurant in Lynchburg

My family discovered Batter Bar accidentally just after moving to Lynchburg. Now that we have been here several years when looking back at all of our favorite places, this café ranks as one of our very favorite! Because our daughter is gluten-free, we were sad thinking we would not be able to enjoy lunch there, and much to our surprise, they offer some fantastic gluten-free options! Our daughter was thrilled and it has become one of her favorite places, In Lynchburg.

Their crêpes are as good as any crêpe we have had in France, but I happen to be partial to their croissants, specifically the everything spinach croissant, which is the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. My family all have their favorite items from Batter Bar, from the sweet crêpes, the savory ones, and of course the gluten-free ones are all out of this world delicious! The homemade pop tarts and their croissants are dream worthy! I have to add the owner of this café is absolutely lovely as are all the staff members she has Employed there! You will feel like a welcomed guest.

My family of 8 and I ate here this morning & it is the best food we have had in a long time! For better or worse, I am a bit of a food snob having come from a long line a fabulous chefs, so when I try a restaurant with a high rating only to be disappointed by the food, left wishing I had stayed home & cooked for myself, it is heartbreaking. With Batter Bar, it was the exact opposite. Every item we ordered was delicious! Not only were they already busy when we arrived, but they handled our large family who speaks Ukrainian as a primary language with smiles and grace. From the questions we had to the large order we placed consisting of hot teas, iced coffees, lattes, and almost every crepe on the menu, the process was seamless. Our order was correct, our crepes were thin & light, just as the perfect crepe should be, & our food and beverages came out quickly. I absolutely loved the Peach + Prosciutto crepe and the Chocolate Banana crepe I shared with my husband. My only regret is that we don't live closer so we can eat here more often. TL;DR: One of the best breakfasts in Lynchburg. Served up by a friendly and helpful staff. Well worth the trip to downtown. Will be back no question.

Why My Rating (5/5 stars)

Food: I had the maple bacon apple crepe. Served up quick and delicious. My friend had the bacon shrooms and loved it. Perfectly prepared, Looked good, tasted even better.

Atmosphere: In a downtown restored building. Has all the character of the old building but modern and clean. Huge windows looking over the street outside. Such a pleasant place to come and eat.

Staff: The staff can make or break a place like this. For me, from the moment stepping in, we were made to feel welcomed and like we were at home. Kindness and a smile will go a long way.

Cleanliness: We felt this place was really clean. Made it feel comfortable.

Price: This isn't fast food so expect a little bit higher prices than that. But well within reason for the type of meal ordered. Felt like it was a good value.

Final Thought: Didn't mention the coffee above but it was great as well. Perfect pair with the crepe. So thankful to have found this place. Can't believe I haven't been...
