We recently moved to Lynchburg, VA from the West Coast. Through families recommendations we went to this resto Dish. It was not a busy nigh knowing it was Friday and we sat by the Bar, in which we always prefer. We were greeted by the Bar person named Victoria and provide us some water and the menu. We waited at least 15 minutes or so before we were asked what we want to drink. For us, that seems too long to wait. Victoria, which is understandably busy coz she was also doing other stuff with other customers who was there before us. But what makes it not acceptable is there is this guy who obviously works at Dich who was there at Bar area, did not even greet us or say any word at all all. At least to say, Victoria will be with you shortly or ask us if we wanted something to drink besides water. This guy pretty much all he's doing is going back and forth by the bar area. Testing and trying the drinks or looking at the booze and looking at the restaurant electronic device by the bar area. This guy never once made an eye contact with us as if we are invisible. And yes, this guy works at this restaurants and not just some random liquor supplier for Dish. Finally, our server Victoria gave us the attention we need and ordered our drinks and she went over their food specials for the night. But while she is in the middle of telling us the specials, this so called "guy" interrupted her - just want her to try the drink on his hand. Which we find it very unprofessional and quite rude. Seems like the drink on his hand for Victoria to try it is far more important than assisting the customer first. Mind you, this is not the first time this guy interrupted Victoria. The fact that he did not even said - "excuse me" to us or Victoria our server, is not something shocked us. We always assumed people from the South are always known from being polite. And that was proven to us since moving here. Unless, this guy has not gotten to that culture yet. As far as food on this restaurant, coming from the West Coast so far is one of the good ones what we had tried so far. Speaking of our server Victoria, she is amazing and sweet. She also gave us some ideas of the venues happening in Lynchburg. I would give her a 5 star for sure. Now, whoever that guy is - just wish he will not do that to other customers. He needs to realized that first impression always last, specially to those who are new to Lynchburg or just visiting. That is why I am rating 2 star for the service not because of our server, Victoria but...

Husband and I dined here for the first time on a Saturday night after making a 5pm reservation a month in advance. We were greeted by attentive and helpful staff, and our waitress (red hair) was able to walk us through the details of the menu and specials. We ordered calamari and chips and salsa to start and were given fresh complimentary bread and roasted-garlic olive oil. All the food came out on mismatched plate ware with some pieces even having chips in the porcelain. I understand the eclectic look they may be going for, but it ended up looking old and careless. Unfortunately, the bread was dough-y in the middle and bland. The calamari was lightly breaded and fried, but also bland in flavor. The chips appeared to be house made but fried either too long or in old oil as they came out very dark, very oily, and very bland as well. The salsa was fresh and tasted vibrant. We ended up asking for salt and were brought a salt shaker filled with flakey salt. It hardly escaped the holes of the shaker, causing us to look ridiculous as we vigorously shook the shaker, begging for salt to grace our food. We soon became uninterested in continuing with the appetizers as the work it took to get a flavorful bite outweighed the reward.

For our mains, we ordered a small plate of meatloaf over truffle mashed potatoes with morel mushrooms and a large plate of black sea bass and escargot served over a bed of purple rice and 4 asparagus stalks dressed with a butter sauce. Sounds amazing right? It could have been. But again, salt was severely missing. At this point, it sounds like we have a sodium deficiency with our salt complaints. But the reality is that salt helps to elevate the flavor of the ingredients, and that’s why it was a shame to make such spectacular ingredients taste one-note. The butter sauce on the sea bass dish in particular came out oily rather than rich. Our bill came out to about $75 including tip, which was fine because we came with the goal of tasting a ton of dishes using expensive ingredients. But paying $75 to have to salt my own food is just disgraceful and disappointing. Will not be returning...

I believe the owner has a bullmastiff haven't quite met him yet but the dog sure is good looking if I'm not mistaken. Wonderful and awesome business man apparently and knows how to run a fantastic establishment. Great staff and barmaids Crystal with phenomenal service and a great attitude Allison runs a awesome karaoke show everytime I look her in the eyes I want to kiss her sorry there's a bar made that does Kurt Cobain my girl I forgot her name but she and I talked about being single is great conversation with her and basically everybody at the establishment great bunch of people friendly atmosphere and the door guy Kevin and f are very protective and keep the place greatly secured with cameras all around the restaurant itself. Everybody is so happy the 3 weeks that I've experienced it and it's very a warm comfy nice and pleasant with great karaoke singers on Tuesday and Saturday nights highly impressed with the way the owner runs the business and the barmaids and the security it's a phenomenal establishment and I give it five stars and recommend it to anyone that wants to have a great time and enjoy each other's company I have yet to try the food but I will soon I would imagine it is phenomenal I've been in the hospitality field on and off for 30 years in my life and I highly recommend this venue dish on Main Street Lynchburg downtown as all thumbs up from me and most of the customers that I know there are highly satisfied dish employees job well done thank you for the...

| Edit: I’m a little late posting this but I want to give special thanks to the guy who served us 11/8/24. I cab’t remember his name - shaved head, brown beard. He was awesome and took extra care of us on an evening we were celebrating a special occasion. Also, the Korean bbq brisket was ridiculous šŸ™ŒšŸ¼ | Edit 2/17/24 - my wife and I had an amazing Valentine’s Day dinner..best surf & turf I’ve ever had. Also, the bacon jam on the cheese plate is delightful | The vibe is immaculate, perfect for a glass of wine and light fare before the opera. After trying one taste of the garlic butter for the bread I knew it was on. The empanadas were all gas no brakes..top tier šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼ We’ll definitely be back, there are several dishes on the menu we want to try.

What a gem of a place. The friendly service by Olivia was great, and the food was a pure suprise of different tastes that's had my taste buds dancing. Dish specializes in small plates, with locally sourced ingredients. I love when I am told where the food is coming from. That adds to the food that I am enjoying. It puts a connection from the farm, to the chef to, my mouth. I will do my best to drop into dish next time I am in Lynchburg. I would advise anyone to stop in. It will be worth your time and money.
