Scoreboards is a place my husband and I really want to like. It is a convenient location for us and Lynchburg can use a sports bar other than B-Dubs. The location and look of the place are great. For the most part our service has been great. The problem is the food. A couple of weeks ago I ordered the Squealer flatbread (crispy bacon, ham and sausage) and was excited to try it. When it arrived it looked like it was covered in syrup and was so sweet I couldn't eat it. Nothing in the description prepares you for the sweet, sticky sauce on this flatbread. The wait staff noticed I wasn't eating it and offered another option. That was appreciated as good customer service. The jalapeno cucumber margarita was very good. Today, my husband and I gave Scoreboards another try and I ordered the Pepperoni flatbread. It tasted like a bad frozen pizza and was not very warm when served. Way too much cheese and sauce in comparison to amount of pepperoni on the flatbread. The pepperoni is cut in little thin strips. I would prefer actual slices of pepperoni. I realize personal preference plays a part here, but I am not a picky eater and can usually roll with the flow. This was a flatbread I didn't want to eat and only ate a few bites. My husband ordered a house salad with grilled chicken. The salad greens were wilted and the chicken was dry and tasteless. He usually will power through and finish a salad but he pushed it away after eating about a 1/3 of it. We frequented this establishment when it was Fire and Hops and were concerned that there were not many customers at the times we were there. When it was Fire and Hops we felt a menu upgrade would be a good idea. Unfortunately, Scoreboards didn't keep some of the menu items that we liked at Fire and Hops. The pizza was a good option and much better than the flatbreads I've experienced with Scoreboards. It would seem that bar food would be pretty simple to execute. Maybe some sliders, a great hot dog, awesome fries, pizza, smoked wings, nachos, cheese and meat plate. Ingredients need to be high quality and if a recipe isn't working change it up. The Squealer and Pepperoni flatbreads are excellent ideas, just need to be better executed. The music today was terrible, go off the grid a little bit and play some good music vs 80's, 90's pop. Love the additional TVs and hope that this will be a place we will want to come back to, but it has not been the best experience so far.
