The food was amazing. Me and my wife went out for date night and wanted to do something new as we are still exploring Lynchburg. We went to the scoreboard. It was great until the end. When we walked in we were greeted and told sit anywhere so we sat an open table and was brought out menus really fast. We ordered an app and 2 drinks. Then ordered our food. We enjoyed the drinks and food and we're amazed at everything. But here's when it went bad. Our waitress came by the table to see if we wanted anything else and I stated we would like the check and Togo boxes. She stated okay. And then walked away. We waited about 10 mins then she came back to the table and asked would we like Togo boxes or another round. I was so surprised by this question I stated yes I'd like Togo boxes and the check and again she said okay. I watched the waitress this time and she went straight to the bar and proceeded to take other people's orders and start making their drinks. I watched her make 5 groups (these groups were mixed of 2-4 people). Now we went in on Thursday around 6:30pm it wasn't busy but there were a decent amount of people. So I was very confused but this. People were walking from the table to place orders and getting em while we are waiting on the check and Togo boxes. My wife goes to the car around 7:58 and I was still waiting on this check. I got tired and went to the waitress stand by our table and asked can I get boxes and the check. The Lady hands me some boxes and says she'll be right back to help me. I load up the containers and still waited 5 mins for her to come back. I explained that I've been waiting on the check for a while now and she didn't care. She hands me the check and on it was everything we ordered and a forced tip of $15. I was a bit mad and asked what's this and she said "it's a forced tip that everyone has to pay" I was not happy. With the fact that this was so uncomfortable waiting to leave that I stated I didn't agree with it and just wanted to pay for the food and drinks because I've been waiting for over 30 mins for a check and boxes. She didn't care and just walked away no manager ever came and talked to us so I agreed to pay it and she had the audacity to ask if I would like to leave a tip for the waitress. Which I noticed she put under her name and not the actual bartenders. I paid my $100 bill. Left no tip because of the ending of the service felt like we were prisoners. Talked to my coworkers and they stated they'd have left if they didn't want to take our money for the order. I will always pay my bill so I don't get charges from the police that these guys want to make more money than the food is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreScoreboards is a place my husband and I really want to like. It is a convenient location for us and Lynchburg can use a sports bar other than B-Dubs. The location and look of the place are great. For the most part our service has been great. The problem is the food. A couple of weeks ago I ordered the Squealer flatbread (crispy bacon, ham and sausage) and was excited to try it. When it arrived it looked like it was covered in syrup and was so sweet I couldn't eat it. Nothing in the description prepares you for the sweet, sticky sauce on this flatbread. The wait staff noticed I wasn't eating it and offered another option. That was appreciated as good customer service. The jalapeno cucumber margarita was very good. Today, my husband and I gave Scoreboards another try and I ordered the Pepperoni flatbread. It tasted like a bad frozen pizza and was not very warm when served. Way too much cheese and sauce in comparison to amount of pepperoni on the flatbread. The pepperoni is cut in little thin strips. I would prefer actual slices of pepperoni. I realize personal preference plays a part here, but I am not a picky eater and can usually roll with the flow. This was a flatbread I didn't want to eat and only ate a few bites. My husband ordered a house salad with grilled chicken. The salad greens were wilted and the chicken was dry and tasteless. He usually will power through and finish a salad but he pushed it away after eating about a 1/3 of it. We frequented this establishment when it was Fire and Hops and were concerned that there were not many customers at the times we were there. When it was Fire and Hops we felt a menu upgrade would be a good idea. Unfortunately, Scoreboards didn't keep some of the menu items that we liked at Fire and Hops. The pizza was a good option and much better than the flatbreads I've experienced with Scoreboards. It would seem that bar food would be pretty simple to execute. Maybe some sliders, a great hot dog, awesome fries, pizza, smoked wings, nachos, cheese and meat plate. Ingredients need to be high quality and if a recipe isn't working change it up. The Squealer and Pepperoni flatbreads are excellent ideas, just need to be better executed. The music today was terrible, go off the grid a little bit and play some good music vs 80's, 90's pop. Love the additional TVs and hope that this will be a place we will want to come back to, but it has not been the best...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis has got to be the worst sports bar to which Iāve ever been. Iāve been a few times when visiting family in Lynchburg. The food is horrible and almost too salty for consumption. However, my experience there tonight will be my last. I walked in and asked about the Thursday night game and was told it would be put on a specific TV (every every other TV was on the VT game), so I ordered and went to sit in front of the TV the bartender mentioned. Approximately, 5 minutes after kick off, I asked again about the NFL game when they still had not turned it on, at which point I was told that they wouldnāt turn it on until after the Yankees game, which had just gone into the 9th inning. I was shocked and basically said that the entire 1st quarter will likely be over by then. Surprisingly, the bartender then replied, āI mean itās the 9th inningā implying that I was wrong. Tell me you donāt know anything about either sport why donāt you! Thank god I left because the 1st quarter was over before the 9th inning ended, and the baseball game went into extra innings.
MAKE SURE THEY WILL ACTUALLY PUT YOUR GAME ON BEFORE YOU ORDER BECAUSE THEY WILL STRAIGHT...
