I have been here a couple of times and have not been that impressed. One of the last times I was there I had got panang curry, which is my absolute favorite. So after a handful of bites I kept saying something is missing. I finally realized it was crushed peanuts every Penang curry I’ve ever gotten no matter where always had crushed peanuts on top. So I said something to the waitress and she said it didn’t come on it and I said well can I get some crushed peanuts and so she brought me some, a whole lot more than what I needed she wasn’t a very pleasant waitress from the start. Then when I got the bill, I noticed there was a five or six dollar charge for those crushed peanuts. My mouth dropped open. I couldn’t say anything because I wasn’t invited guest at one of my sister‘s best friends birthday so I just paid it instead of making a big deal about it. This happened about a year or so ago. I don’t know what was on the menu like a year ago, but when you look on the menu now under Panang curry in the description, it says crushed peanut. So I haven’t been back or ordered anything to go since then Until last night (12/27/24) I ordered 2 of the mango sticky rice and 1 banana chee. I will say that the mango sticky rice was delicious. My problem was is that it’s $7.99 and there was barely any rice. I was so mad when I got home and opened up the bag and saw what they put in the container. I took a picture of it the way it was, and then I took a picture of it after I separated the rice away from the mango. I’m sorry, but if you’re gonna charge 8$ for this then you need to make it worth 8$ I would’ve rather had half the amount of mangoes and double the rice. Again, it was delicious. It really was. It just was not worth 8$ because of the quantity that they give you. From now on, I will definitely be going I guess to one of the two other Thai places we have here in town. I loved going to Thai 99 when the owner was Patty But I have recently heard that Patty does not own it anymore and she moved back to Thailand. I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but I really loved going there, and the quality and quantity with Patty was excellent. I’ve heard that since she’s left and doesn’t own it anymore it’s not the same and it’s not as good as it used to be.

TL:DR - variety of SE Asian food on the menu with good service and okay atmosphere. Not bad, but not to the point where I want to go back to try the same menu. The restaurant has variety, so I would like to try more things. I have tried Pad Thai, but I guess it wasn't up to my standard. The taste was there though if you want to just turn of your craving. Tom Yum soup was good. The flavor was there. Penang curry was hard to tell how good it was because we ordered it Thai spicy, so majority of taste was from the spice rather than the curry. They are spicy indeed and I have normal Korean spice tolerance. Pad Kaprow was a good menu. Not to the point that I would get it again, but it was worth trying. My friend enjoyed the samosas that were in the vegetable platter. I personally did not find anything particularly outstanding yet. Service was good. Our server was a Liberty University student, and he was friendly. I thought the restaurant was a bit messy, and I think that is because they blocked a section of their restaurant with chairs as soon as you walk in with no sign to show why. Otherwise, the decor and setting up a wide space in the middle with tables close to the wall was a very good choice of the restaurant.

Adding an extra star for the cleanliness of the restaurant. I always wash my hands before a meal, but also had to use the toilet, so it was nice to see that it was quite clean. The lone waitress/attendant was inattentive. There was only one other table with two women at it and myself. She didn't ask for a a beverage choice when she seated me, I couldn't find her to pay the cheque when I was done and had to wait for her to come out of hiding after several minutes. I ordered the Pad Thai with pork and it's a little sad to have maybe 5 pieces of green onion in the entire plate. It had a decent amount of bean sprouts, but there were literally no other veggies in the dish. A good point for it though was they did have a pretty good amount of pork in it. The sauce was also leaning too far to the sweet side. It just didn't make the dish sit right in my mouth. Either way, I likely wouldn't go back again. They may have had an off day but I was out of town and stopped in there. This isn't a place I would go out of my way to stop at.

0 STARS. So. Let me break this down for ya'll. For those who just want a simple yes or no if you should go there, your answer is NO. This place has the worst customer service, there would be better service as a POW in Kim Jong Un's dungeon. But for you to understand here is the timeline of events: my friends and I made a reservation morning of for 6 people at 6pm. To start the lady on the phone was extremely rude and showed about as much emotion as a dead fish. When we arrive the the waitress asked if we wanted water and we said yes (we gotta stay hydrated bby). She then proceeds to bring us WATER BOTTLES and glass cups with ice. It wasn't until after we got the water that we saw on the menu (a single menu stuck on the table btw) that they charge .50 for water and for each refill. I get it .50 is not that much but the last I checked (which I did), by law restaurants that serve alcohol require to have free water available. And also it wasn't even good water, like if it was Fiji I would understand. but it was that cheap stuff deer park or whatever. We then ordered our food and proceed to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes!!! The waitress never came to check on us and bring us more water or to update us on the food. After about an hour we called the waitress over and she rolls her eyes and say "what". We ask (politely btw) when the food will be out bc it was taking forever. She said "probably another 30 minutes idk". Like ish what? We ask why this was the case since there were only 4 other customers in the whole restaurant. They claimed it was because of the high amounts of takeout orders. Many of my friends work at restaurants and they all said how they should not have been prioritizing takeout over us. Especially since we made a reservation! At one point i was convinced that the food was coming directly from Thailand, but honestly it probably still would've gotten to us quicker if that were the case. We finally got our food brought out one at a time with 5 minutes in between each. The food itself was pretty good but I've honestly had better. Any cheap mall Thai place would've been better. Because of the long wait we decided to ask to speak to the manager which hey lucky us was the rude woman we dealt with over the phone. So as you can guess she was still rude and gave a rock's butt about us. She told us that it was our fault for making a reservation for such a "busy time of day" and on a popular day (Valentine's Day). If making a reservation during that time was such a problem why wouldn't she just have told us when we called. We asked if she could at least give us the $1.00 of water for free and she said no. In the end, Ty Thai is the best place to go to if you want to sit for 2 hours and think about every terrible thing about yourself while your hunger slowing eats you within. As each minute passes without food you and your date will be able to analyze each pimple and weird wrinkle, and slowly fall out of love by the end of the night. Some recommendations I have to pass time as you wait are: watch the entire 9 seasons of the office, rewrite a copy of the KJV on rock tablets, grow out your leg hair, or even move to Thailand, learn how to cook the food, get a business degree, go to culinary school, open a restaurant and serve ya dam self.

This has been a review by a gen z, NOT and I repeat NOT a Karen. Have a good day, except the 2 girl...

My wife is a big fan of Thai food, so she chose Ty Thai for her birthday dinner. We've eaten there a number of times before, so we liked their food, but things have gone downhill in recent times.

If we had gotten takeout, this review might be better. The food itself was good and we enjoyed it. The biggest problem was the service. When we arrived, we heard the waitress telling others that they were very busy, so wait times to get their food might be up to 30 minutes. We had reserved a table, so we got seated immediately. From the time we ordered, it was well over an hour, maybe 75 minutes, before our food arrived. After waiting an hour, I asked the waitress if the food was almost ready, and she said she'd check. She then proceeded to bus other tables and do other tasks, and never did come to our table to give us an update. This is unacceptable after she knew we were getting upset!

On a Saturday night, which is probably the busiest of the week, they only had one waitress. This is just unacceptable, but even if they had staffing issues, she didn't seem to be too concerned about the satisfaction of her guests. Take out orders were going out quickly, so I wonder if those were prioritized.

I assume that due to Covid they were not serving tap water, but why? They gave us cups with ice in them, then charged us for bottled water without telling us they were doing this. If it was okay to fill the cups with ice, why couldn't they have just filled them with water like other restaurants still do? At least tell us about the charge! Not only that, but she never even asked if we needed more water over the course of nearly 2 hours!

Unfortunately, it'll be a long time before we go back to Ty Thai. They aren't even the best Thai food in town, but we wanted a sit-down meal. There's no reason to take so long and then to not even talk to customers to tell them what's going on.

If you're in the mood for Thai food, I suggest you...
