I'm giving this a 1 star because the whole point of a restaurant is good quality food. We ate here last year, and yes the food was horrible, but the portions weren't super tiny. My boyfriend enjoyed his food that trip. Mine was a salad that tasted off.
BUT...this time(July 1st), he had been begging me to go again. Service from Melissa was wonderful, the atmosphere was comfortable, but the food is a no go. Even he was disappointed this time sadly. I don't get the prices, compared to the amount of food you get. We got old bay shrimp for appetizer, they looked like they were dumped out of a prepackaged $5 shrimp container from Kroger...for $15 too...not worth it at all. He ordered a burger and fries($15), he liked it, just thought the burger was on the small size and too pink, and didn't care for the fries very much. I ordered the salmon salsa fresco with a sweet potato and apples($24). Now when that got dropped off, I couldn't believe the size, the portion was so small. My sweet potato was bigger than the actual piece of fish. They should have just put my food on an appetizer plate. Salmon was bland and oily, but the sweet potato was at least good. I've had way better salmon from plenty of places. I honestly think my bf makes better tasting salmon.
Overall, we probably won't be going back again, unless he really wants it. He was pretty disappointed, for wanting it so badly for months, to having this crappy food experience. I really dont get the hype people in this town have for this place. Quality of food is not good at all. It's like a fancy restaurant style, but with food quality from the late...
Read moreThis was my third time going to Shakers and I left disappointed. I will give the waitress credit from the 1st visit, the waitress was very efficient, kept track of our needs, kept our glasses full, and was very pleasant. The second time my group went the waitress had trouble listening and getting our order and seemed like she was in a hurry to get to the next table although I'm not sure exactly what was going on in her head This third visit is the last time I will go to Shakers. We sat down and maybe 15 minutes went by and we still haven't gotten any drink order no sign of hello I'll be with you in a little bit nothing. So I got up and went to ask who our waitress was because we felt totally ignored. When the waitress finally came over she asked us what we would like to drink and heard three people's answers and walked off from the table and we sat there in disbelief of what was happening to us. She came back about 5 minutes later and asked again. One lady ordered a drink from the bar, but it came back the wrong drink. And when the waitress finally came back to take our order she didn't ask us any preferences, like did we need any sauces. One ladies sweet potato was so tiny it equaled three fingers and she got maybe three to four spoonfuls out of it. Now I'm not sure what's going on at the place but it just doesn't seem like everyone's coordinated together on how to help out or how to pay attention or I'm just not sure. But for the prices that is charged for these meals I expected a lot, a lot better service than what we got. So these five ladies will not be going back to...
Read moreFirst time going to this restaurant. We live about an hour from Lynchburg and decided after taking our kids to Putt Putr Fun Center that we would try this place. My kids are hard to really please food wise and they had an option that everyone enjoyed. The service was excellent and on point. I am a hard one to please customer service wise and I was truly impressed by our waitress. The food was spectacular. I have never had shrimp taste soooo good and be flavorful. The cinnamon butter on the bread was recommended by our waitress and boy was she right about that. My steak, although it wasn't what I originally wanted (I wanted a sirloin but they was out so I went with rib eye), I wanted it well done but not burnt. Let me tell you, the steak had juices running from ut, it was cooked to perfection and tender.! My husband loved the seafood platter he got. Typically we ALWAYS take food home but tonight, I was the only 1 out of 6 of us that took anything home with me. For anyone looking to go, yes it is a bit pricey BUT it well worth it. I'll go there before going back to Outback or Cracker Barrel or any other place when we go...
