Zuri's Gourmet Donutz — Restaurant in Lynnwood

I stumbled onto this place based on a need to buy a couple of boxes of donuts for a meeting and the google reviews were 4.9 out of 5. On the positive side, they have a lot of variety sitting in a display case. They also have a lot of flavors of icing and they have lined up the countertop with samples of them all, probably 50 different ones (?). On the negative, these are expensive. A dozen of their least expensive donuts for $15? I'm not a donut consumer and don't know what they go for these days, but what I see at Fred Meyer or Winco is far less than a dollar each. I bought 2 dozen and told the clerk to give a good representation of his shop because these will be consumed by several people who if they like it, they'd want to know where it was from and become customers. Low and behold, not one of my staff liked any of the donuts (24 donuts total). They didn't want to take any home, and dumped whatever they had picked, half eaten and into garbage. I don't mean that everyone tried a piece of every donut to see if they might like a different one. I mean the donuts have such super-heavy glazing on top, and the texture of each as you bite into it is so dense, that it feels like you are going to kill youself with another bite and it didn't matter which one the bite came from. By the way, they had no plain donuts - just some plain donut holes which did not make their way into my boxes. At least they might have been consumed. I don't want to bash a shop that is trying to do business in a difficult time (Covid-19 era), but since it was the stellar reviews that brought me in, I wanted to input my side for some other person like myself, who needs to take a couple of boxes of donuts to their workplace and needs honest reviews of a place. I'm giving it two stars because the place was clean and the clerk was super polite and helpful. It is the recipes of the donut and the frosting that I have problems with. I have lived near this place for over a year, but only just stopped in for the first time this morning. Waiting was a MISTAKE. I regret every day I spent not knowing these delicious donuts were just a short walk away.

The flavors and textures are on point. The range of options is wide, and creative, with a couple more traditional types to satisfy those with less adventurous tastes. I got the apple fritter and a peach one (just peachy was the name, I think?) Unlike many donut places, they were neither too sweet nor too oily. Instead, all flavors and ingredients were in perfect proportion. They WERE just the slightest touch dry when I ate them, but I bought them and left them on the counter for several hours before eating, so that's on me.

Also, let's talk allergens. I have a severe food allergy, I am used to every instance of eating sweets out being a roulette. Not so here. Donuts with nuts are kept separate from other types, and the moment I mentioned my allergy, fresh tools were grabbed to double-ensure my safety.

Finally, pandemic safety and customer service. They were strict about not letting more that two parties in at a time, and about mask use, so I felt totally safe going in and making my selections. Also, the gentleman who was working (I'm so sorry I forgot to ask your name, wonderful donut man!) was so warm, welcoming, and friendly. Definitely the kind of customer service that makes for loyal customers!

My new favorite Donut shop. The owner is friendly and is also the baker! Amazing gf cake donuts taste normal. They are gf he keeps in a separate container never near the gluten donuts! I bought his remaining gf donuts at the end the day at 1:45pm close at 2pm because he there at 4am making yummy donuts. Also donates all the remaining leftover normal donuts to firehouses in Shoreline! #gfdonuts #freshglutenfreedonuts last 3 days if don't eat them all one sitting. I frozen the remaining and grab and go treat. Celiac nanny and the mom celiac so we never get donuts nice treat.
