So I am in Chicago for a conference. It’s a bit late, so I looked on Google for a restaurant and this one had decent reviews, so I stopped in… OMG, I AM GLAD I DID! The food was amazing! The service was spectacular! And the owner Lynn was the sweetest person in the world!!! (Even sweeter than the kolaches I am too full to finish… but will be taking back to the Marriott for tomorrow!) I have always hated sauerkraut and started major “family battles” arguing with my mother when I was growing up because I refused to eat it on New Year’s Eve out of some weird superstition people in Ohio have. When my waitress recommended it I rolled my eyes and said “I’ll pass”… but she didn’t take “no” for an answer and brought me some anyway… and I actually enjoyed it as a side. (I’m sure my mother is looking down from heaven saying, “I told you so.” 🫣 I also had breaded pork tenderloin - loved it!!! Beef noodle soup- it was great! Homemade bread dumplings - which were fabulous. I tried fried cheese curds for the first time!!! (OMG… they are the best!!!) And I have kolaches and strudel I am too full to eat… but I am taking back to my hotel. (You are probably going to think I’m weird… but I am going to delay my flight home to Houston tomorrow just so I can come back for lunch!) Okay, I know my review is long… but this place is like Cheers, but with food. Everyone is so nice and the food is so amazing… I wish I could pack the whole restaurant up and take it back to Houston!

Food is quite good, gravy is 10/10. noodle soup was good. however their menu needs updated to show accurate side and drink options. As is became confusing at a couple points during the ordering process. desserts are not made in house and left the server and kitchen staff unaware of contents making nothing for dessert allergy safe as there was no available ingredient/allergen list. Which was really unfortunate as I was excited to try some of the options. I will say atmosphere was a deterrent. ducttape hanging from loose fairy lights from holidays long past, dusty curtains & a potent smell of mildew walking in the side door was a very unfortunate stage setting for the diner. as I repeat the food is good. Just the place would heavily benefit from some extra tlc. It gave the vibe of "has enough regulars and new customers aren't necessary" which isn't always the best. (Went for early diner so maybe just caught an odd time)

If you're looking for an authentic Czech-Bohemian restaurant with awesome food and great service, then look no further. I highly recommend the Farmer's Plate it gives you a sample of some of the most popular items in their menu. Other items I recommend are the cream of tomato soup, liver dumpling soup, apple strudel, just to name a few items. I can honestly say that you can't go wrong with any item off the menu. You can seat at a table, or at the bar so you can watch your favorite sports game while enjoying your meal. They also have a secluded section with a few slot machines, so you can try your luck and maybe you'll hit one of the jackpots. The staff is super friendly and they treat you like a long time regular customer, even if it's your very first time. There's plenty of parking in front of the building and on the East side as well.

I have been eating bohemian food for as long as I can remember, going back to when my grandpa was alive. We would always go for bohemian food in the La Grange/Berwyn/Cicero area. This was the worst service that I received in my life (31 short years). Their are reviews that state the food is good, I would agree with that very much, the quality of the food is good, not necessarily the portion size. I could not get a refill of water, inmates receive more water than we received at my table. I got one cup of hot tea. I understand that they were a little busy. I do not believe that it is okay for the waitress to yell at customers and tell them off in the manner that she did. I do agree that she was overworked. That is on the management of this establishment. Even though Bohemian Restaurants are becoming things of a past, this waitress will be one of the reasons that we will find another location to go to instead of them. The management did not say anything to her, they accept her for how she behaves when she doesn't get her way when times are busy at a Restaurant! Family restaurants are a place to enjoy, spend time, drink and eat good food with family. But the service needs to help make everything flow in that manner... When you do not get refills of anything or asked how you are it does not become a family restaurant it is unfriendly and is not a place for a family to enjoy spending time with each other. Shame on the waitress and shame on the management for overworking her and putting her in a...

I grew up eating my grandmother's Czech food, so I'm a tough critic in this regard. I had the beef noodle soup. dill roast beef, and bread dumplings. OMG, it was ALL delicious! The soup was clearly homemade, and normally I bring my soup home but here I finished the entire thing and wanted another bowl, plus more to take home. The dill gravy roast beef was seriously addicting - the dill flavor of the gravy was so fresh and clean tasting, which really complimented the roast beef so incredibly well; the portion was quite large, and I nearly ate all of it there at the restaurant! Then there were those bread dumplings, which were by far the best I've ever had. Again, I could have eaten 5 orders of those things because they were genuinely that good. I tried to save some of my dinner for take home so I could have it the next day, but I only managed to bring back a teeny little bit! I also had a fountain Coke to drink, and even that was good - it tasted like the ones I'd get way back in the 1970's, where the flavor was pronounced and not watered down. For desert I had chocolate ice cream, which was high-quality, and I had a decent portion size with this as well. Our server was pleasant and attentive. For the price of this dinner you cannot go wrong - it's an awesome value, and a...
