Dave's Cosmic Subs — Restaurant in Macedonia

Very unique sub shop. Great seasonings, great flavors, not your typical ham or turkey sub shop. The crazy Dave sandwich was voted best in the area a couple years back, but you better not have an aversion to hot peppers if you're going to try it. The peace steak has a really unique, flavorful sauce to it. I haven't tried much else because those two are so good i don't want to pass up the chance to have one when I'm here. Dave's has their own line of sodas, plus other popular soft drinks. You grab what you want out of the cooler and pay for it at the counter when you order. It's only chips as sides like the typical sub places, but you come here for the high quality sandwiches. I believe they use only french baguette bread and the amount of crunch is perfect for whatever sandwich you choose. I used to pick up lunch for ten people regularly and I've never heard anyone voice unhappiness about their order other than one particular sandwich wasn't as great another one. They close at nine pm sharp though, the dining area is a bit small. The decor is old school rock and roll items with a TV tuned to ESPN. I take it that the owner of Dave's cosmic subs was some kind of rock musician decades ago. I know a lot of music, but I don't think I've ever heard of his band. Thankfully for him and us he's a far better sandwich maker...

Our family has frequented many Dave’s locations for many years and we quit going to this location in Macedonia a while back mainly because of the bread. They bake the buns too long and they are crispy like a cracker, so much in fact that they crumble into two halves. A while back when we complained about the buns, the manager told us that they received many complaints and they were going back to the way all the other stores cooked the buns. Tonight that was clearly not the case as they are back to crackers.

All the Dave’s had always loaded up the sandwiches with plenty of Provolone cheese. Tonight there was a sprinkling of cheese. When we asked for more cheese we got an argument from the sandwich maker saying he’ll get fired if he gives us more cheese. Really??

We will still go back to Dave’s, it just won’t be the one...

Wow! Best sub I've ever had! I got the #19 The "Hey Dave" with an extra side cup of Dave's horseradish sauce for pouring over my sub and dipping my sub into when I needed a bit more "bite" towards the end. I love horseradish, and Dave's sauce has just the right amount of horseradish to give it "bite" without being overpowering. This sub had tons on real swiss cheese melted over the top, sealing the corned beef and coleslaw between the sides of the sub bun. It was still messy while eating, but I'd get all that delicious horseradish sauce and coleslaw dripping down my finger and running over my palms anytime to eat this again! Plus the place has a laid-back, funky old school rock & roll vibe, and a bathroom where you can wash your hands before & after licking all that sweet horseradish sauce and coleslaw off...
