Me and a few of my cousins took our Moms and Aunt here last weekend to eat, it was my 2nd time eating there, and we had about 12 ppl, I called a couple days ahead to see if I needed to reserve a area for us to be seated together....we're a big family, that use to have yrly reunions with big meals and all the trimmings, Ole Times was the PERFECT substitute for our gathering, the manager happily told me he would make sure we were seated together....and the staff was perfect, the food was awesome. Very fair priced and after about 2.5hrs of us eating and reminiscing we noticed a sign asking patrons to try to keep their stay under 2hrs lol....hey, ya can't blame them I was in a porkchop coma within a hour....collard greens, cabbage green beans everything was perfect and seasoned just right, I paid for my guest and cousins paid for theirs we only asked that everyone in our party leave a good tip, but we noticed waitstaff never touched the tips before we left, so not really sure how tipping works there....I'll definitely be back, and if you love southern style food and great service, I think you'll be hard pressed to find better. Again thanks for accommodating us...my apologies for overstaying the 2hrs, as we were too busy eating laughing to notice the sign lol. I guess only question is tipping allowed? And only suggestion is if foods always that GOOD and I understand 2hrs is more than enough time...maybe consider security guards or bouncers even to keep me away from those tender golden porkchops!...
Read moreThe food is good, some of it isn't cooked well. The tuna salad and pasta salad didn't taste good. My COMPLAINT against old times buffet is my mom is home bound and while you can get 2,3,4 lbs of food there for one low price of $8.99 that you eat inside the restaurant.... My mom's little bit of food cost over $13.00 which is a fraction of the food people eat in the restaurant. The price discriminates against the disabled home bound. The take out containers evidently pay for the people eating within the restaurant. The price needs to be changed. One container is like a plate of food and it shouldn't be sold by the pound but they should have one large container for meat, potatoes, vegetables, etc.. PLUS one small container for the desert and They should charge the individual buffet charge of $8.99-9.99 for it and just have a restriction on how much meat you can get, like you can only get the amount of meat that fits in the largest divided section. The other sections must contain something other than meat. Old times Buffet takes advantage of the elderly and disabled who must get to go containers brought home to them by family members. Plus it's almost impossible for the disabled to eat inside. The customers almost run over the able bodied people. The maximum number of people allowed is 299 people, but a couple of hundred football players went today and it was packed full with I know more people than is allowed without counting all...
Read moreMy family and I visited for the first time on 1-26-19 for a birthday. Prices were not bad a little over 30.00 for 2 adults which includes a drink which they bring to your table. The place is very clean (even the restrooms) and the entire staff from the cashiers to wait staff were extremely kind and attentive. A1 service! Not an overwhelming selection of food and I personally was disappointed that there were no baked meats in sight unless you count the fish that had been clearly sitting out for a while. If you aren't overly concerned with baked meats, then rest assured that the fried fish, clam strips, shrimp were constantly replenished (the fried chicken took about 30mins to be put out as they ran out which caused quite a bit of complaints from patrons . I.m.o. key selections should never be completely out and the fried chicken is quite a big deal at that buffet I was told). There were a good amount of southern favorites as far as veggies go: Collard greens, turnip greens, cabbage, (all prepared with ham fyi) creamed corn, stewed tomatoes and okra, okra, black eyed peas, lima beans. Decent dessert selection and a small salad bar that was fresh. I would definitely return to give the place another try, simply because...
