On our trip to the Highlands of North Carolina, we stopped at Sid's Sandwich Shop for breakfast, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with exceptional friendliness by the staff, and we want to highlight the personalized attention from Bobby, the owner of the restaurant. Bobby not only took the time to greet us personally but also gave specific instructions to the kitchen to ensure our Tuna Melt sandwiches were made to perfection.

What really touched us was when Bobby surprised us with a bag of brownie cookies, completely on the house, to take along for our journey. It was such a thoughtful gesture that reflects the high level of dedication and hospitality this place offers.

The restaurant itself is cozy and full of local memorabilia that takes you back in time, including a beautiful Boy Scout uniform from 1964 carefully preserved by Bobby's mother, as well as a fireplace that adds a warm, homey touch. The food is absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of sandwiches and freshly brewed coffee that made our day.

I found Sid's today on Google Maps and decided to have lunch. Its a local nostalgic lunch spot that opened in 1981 (any business open after 37 years and busy speaks for itself). I'm a huge fan of small business restaurants that have succeeded over the years. Sid's has vegetable soup like your mothers used to make. The chicken salad and tuna salad sandwiches were good with a wide selection of breads to choose from, not predestined like the chains. The staff were all very so friendly, it's like talking to friends you have known for years. Locally owned and operated, clean, good food, and wonderful service. I went there for lunch. The guy who fixed my sandwich had completely fixed my sandwich but did not finish wrapping it to go He walks over with his gloves still on and pulls the trash can over to the table where he is fixing the sandwich. He then picks up my sandwich and goes to finish wrapping it. I told him I did not want the sandwich because touched the trash can and then touched my sandwich.
