I went here for lunch, and this may be the best Indian food I've ever had. The flavors are perfectly balanced and rich. This is a must try!
They have only been open two weeks, so they are still getting their bearings. I feel like there are a couple changes that could improve the experience. First, the price is very high for lunch. I got butter chicken, plain Naan, and a drink, plus tip for one person and the total was $32.00. One other positive is that the portion was so large you could easily bring a friend and share it. I would bring a date here for dinner, but will not come back for lunch by myself at those prices. Many other Indian restaurants I have been to have included things like small cups of chutney or raita for free as well, but they cost up to $3 here and I did not order them for that reason. I would love to see a lunch menu with smaller portions, where I could get a main entree, Naan, and a drink for under $15.00. Most lunch restaurants near here are $10-12 for lunch, and it is hard to justify spending triple that, even for food this spectacular.
My other concern is that the menu is very large. There may be 150 items on the menu. I am very confident in the cooking skills of the kitchen staff. But, I have seen tons of great restaurants with talented chefs go out of business because the cost to buy ingredients and supplies for a large number of menu items can become prohibitive. As people come to dine, I hope management reviews which dishes are the most popular and trims the menu down somewhat to avoid that same fate. I would much rather see them do 10 or 30 things excellently than try to do 150 things execellently. This is a very special gem of a restaurant to have in Macon, and I want to see it stay here for...
Read moreLamb Vindaloo, requested "medium" was probably the best I have ever had with regard to flavor. Warm spices that linger. Lamb was cooked perfectly. Potatoes were undercocoked. Rice was generic and not particularly aromatic. Naan was a bit "flat" and tough. Paneer Tikka Masala ordered "medium" was not quite as flavorful but had beautiful color and texture. I will definitely try them again. I wanted to give 4.5 stars but I rounded up.
FOLLOWUP 2/15/2025: Went for the lamb vindaloo medium again. Meat and potatoes perfectly cooked. I was a bit disappointed in the sauce. Instead of a warm spicy enveloping hug from the sauce, it was much more sharp and acidic. Spice was good, but more vinegar-y. Also tried the Chicken 65. Interesting and tasty. Good spice. Nothing to compare it to as I have not had it here or elsewhere. Large portion. Naan much better than last time. Fluffy, chewy. Almost as good as my own homemade Naan. I spoke with the chef when I picked up my order. Very responsive and eager to make this the best Indian food in Macon. I used their online ordering through the "toast" app and it was great, offering four spice levels and room for comments/requests. I do tend to make my own vindaloo at home using Patak's paste but this is hard to resist given the taste and time saving. I will be back.
FOLLOWUP: Meal on April 16 2025. I was disappointed. Reasonably tasty but lamb was gristly and fatty. This food is expensive and I felt corners were cut. If that happens again, I will stop...
Read moreVisited this establishment for the first time today, the inside was clean and felt welcoming. The ordering process was fast and the workers were nice. I came in to order the lunch special listed on their Instagram. The special is said to included an entree, appetizer, rice, naan, and a fountain drink. The way it’s listed makes it seem like you get a choice of appetizer and entree, but apparently you do not. You also cannot substitute out the naan for the other types of naan on their menu. I was told the entree included is butter chicken, so I went with that. When I received the food, it was hot and smelled very good! I was excited, only to find that the portion size on the butter chicken was extremely small. There was lots and lots of rice, one Samosa, and a little compartment with only about 5 small pieces of chicken. I ordered cheese naan on the side, and unfortunately it was pretty overcooked, and it didn’t taste like there was cheese inside. The butter naan that came with the meal was okay, but pretty dry and didn’t feel like it had any butter on it at all. I also ordered the mixed vegetable pakora, which was pretty good but overcooked. The butter chicken was pretty good, but after eating it, I began to experience an extremely upset stomach and nausea. I’m not sure if it was from the chicken or the rice, but I was very saddened by this. I expected much more considering all of the...
