I didn’t want to write a public review because I want to support and encourage local business, but they never responded to my private email so here we go. In short, my husband and I went there on Saturday and every beer we ordered was either wrong (the tap was attached to the wrong keg) or totally flat with no carbonation. We tried quite a few. We know beer, and something was wrong with every pint we tried.
The thing that upset us was that the bartender simply said "well we don't sell a lot of that beer, so it's probably old," like that was a valid excuse. She didn't offer to get us anything else, and expected us to pay for "old" and flat beer. My husband said "do you maybe have a problem with your carbonation?" She said "maybe," but again didn't offer to comp the bad beer. There was just a total lack of customer service. I eventually asked if we could exchange the bad beer for "good" beer, to which she agreed, but nothing that arrived was ever "good." Something was definitely off with everything. In the end, I said "we will pay you for this one, but we just want to go." So we paid for one pint that we didn't even drink because it was bad. I don't believe we should have had to pay for that, but it wasn't worth the battle.
In addition, she was the only person there so the wait to even place our beer order in the first place took forever. Just a really poor experience all around. We were going to eat and drink there, but ended up downtown at Piedmont Brewing instead. A real shame.
Lastly, the beer menu is a QR code, which is fine, but half the things on that menu they don't even have...so what's the point? You literally click on the beer you want and it says "oops, no one in your area has that beer." But it's...
Read moreIt is obvious the owners are disengaged and not training staff on correct service. It was glaring they do not have policies and procedures in place. Food ticket times were 45 minutes or more and food did not arrive in the order they were put it so some patrons ordered after us but ate before us. They did not know what table ordered what meal, again no system. One employee was vaping behind the bar. One bartender poured two cocktails at the same time while holding glasses in her arms bear hug style. Another bartender poured a cocktail in the shaker tin instead of the glass. Same bartender over poured a glass of beer and let excess spill, pouring profits down the drain. There is no way mixed drinks are consistent, again because employees have not been trained. If there is no regular training, can you imagine the kitchen conditions? Would not be surprised to see cross contamination and a less than clean food prep area.
Sadly, The Library Taphouse will not be around long if owners continue to forego training and allow poor service. Until the owners humble up and take responsibility for food safety and training, we...
Read moreThis was my first visit. I called in my order and picked it up on a lunch break. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. I had two hot dogs and fries as a side. It came with relish and red onions. To add chili and cheese is about $1.25 extra. The beef hot dogs were flavorful but were slightly overcooked. The buns were a a little dry and flaky. I assume they usually warm them on the griddle which took away the soft texture. The fries were cooked perfectly, but would have preferred regular non-seasoned. Also o woukdve liked diced white onions instead of big diced and slivers of red onions. Overall, everything was filling and I enjoyed it. Next time I'll be sure to request the dogs not to be overcooked or the...
