Captain D's — Restaurant in Madison

It has been a favorite of mine for many years, so it was good to know there was one close. Today we ate in the dining room. It was clean, but some tables needed to be wiped. Not many people waiting, but drive thru was packed. I have gone thru it several times and it is quite a long wait if you go. The fella that waited on us was pretty nice. My husband got us a seat. The table was a lil sticky and it was pretty hot in there. Food was really good, but we noticed that your portions seem smaller than if you go thru drive through. They use plates and you can get real silverware or plastic that is wrapped and we chose the wrapped. Have to wonder about sanitary conditions when the silverware is just in a holder and could have been handled by many people. We would have preferred the styrofoam plates also. The food was delicious as usual but I was not very happy with the service tonight. It was very easy to overhear staff talking bad about the customers in drive-thru, I went up to ask for drinks and that seemed like an inconvenience considering the blonde behing the counter could barley be heard and I didn't hear her ask, and finally the staff seemed to be on edge with each other tonight. Like yeah that's a really great atmosphere to inflict on. I was at this location on 12/16/22 between 5-6 p.m so hopefully some better/more mature management can solve this issue. I understand people may have things going on that could impact their mood but maybe leave that at the door next time so you don't ruin anyone else's...

Food is good, always is, but I will never come here again. First thing I noticed today 10/18/20, was workers sitting in the dining area, instead of cleaning. It wouldn’t have been a big deal has the dining area been clean, but it was far from it. Tables, floor, seats all needed cleaned, instead they were sitting down chatting. I didn’t pay much attention when eating the clam strips, but one was super “crunchy”. Figured it was over cooked; until I had discomfort in teeth and pulled out what looked like a small shard of glass. My child ate some of those clam strips as well.
