Madison Wool — Local services in Madison

I can’t rave about Madison Wool enough! I am a complete novice and came to the shop for a beginner’s lesson in knitting with Mary and have been back several times since. What a welcoming and encouraging community of knitters. I really looked around in the New Haven area before coming here to try and find a shop I thought would be good for helping a beginner like me and I am so glad I chose Madison Wool! I was also very specific about the style of knitting I wanted to learn which they were easily able to teach me! I’ve only been knitting for a little over a month and am confidently working through a hat right now. The other day I dropped a stitch and tried to fix it myself but got stuck so I came into the shop and Mary helped get me back on track in minutes. Dayna is just as great and supportive as well. They host a lot of events which I look forward to attending! Buying a house on the shoreline was great, but what makes it better is that Madison Wool is now my LYS. Every single time I pop into the store is delightful. Any knitter knows that yarn stores can be intimidating but not here! Dayna is always welcoming and happy to help, chat and offer advice if needed. I always struggle to pick colors for my projects and Dayna has the best eye! The amount of yarns and goodies they stock is fantastic and my bank account hates me every time I visit. The shop is a little hard to find - you can miss it if you don't look carefully. There are two shops in the little area she is in and Madison Wool is in the back. I bought my first spinning wheel from Madison Wool -- it's an adorable little shop jam-packed with spinning wheels, fiber of all kinds, and yarn. The owner is VERY helpful and patient, letting me try many of the wheels she had in the shop (it was my first time using spinning wheels and she was great with instruction on how to use them).
