Where has this been when I was living in Madison 3 years ago? Lived here previously for school and recently visited; realized there’s a Bambu here. Bambu is a franchise that sells Vietnamese Che (a dessert), in additional time specialized smoothies and milk tea. I’ve been to Vietnam and Southeast Asia many times, where these “fruit cocktails” are quite popular and Bambu is probably the closest to the real thing. If you haven’t tried “Che” before I highly recommend doing so as they are a refreshing And much healthier way to satisfy the sweet tooth cravings although compared to the western palate these dessert is not at all sweet. All the combos are pretty good but my favorite has the pandas jelly n faux pomegranate seeds. Newbies can start with the tropical fruit addict then move onto the grass jelly and mung beans. First time here and I loved it!! This is going to be my go to place for bubble tea, smoothies, and authentic Che (Vietnamese dessert drinks)
Bambu has a great selection of signature Vietnamese coffee, dessert drinks, blended teas, juices, smoothies, yogurts and mochi ice cream. I ordered the combo yogurt with Kiwi, Mango, and Strawberry and it was delicious. It only comes in size large so you can share or have it all for yourself. Must must try!! Also got the Pina colada smoothie with Boba and that was so refreshing and tasty.
They have a nice selection of mochi ice creams as well. I love how they are individually packaged. Tried the passion fruit and strawberry flavor and both were exquisite.
Service was excellent. The owner was really kind and accommodating. Gave us an extra cup and spoons to share without us having to.
Great addition to Hilldale. Go...

This is the expedited, packaged and franchised version of that. Not to sound like I’m a million years old, but I was hoping for a specialty version done in the traditional Vietnamese and French method dripped coffee over condensed milk. I experienced a more formulaic approach with everything that seemed already measured and mixed. If you’re searching for a classic “tastes like home” drink, you’ll be disappointed. But if you’ve never experienced some classic and modern takes on classic Vietnamese drinks give it a whirl. There’s no comparison geographically for miles, so in the land of the blind, the one-eyed...
