This whole thing sounds stupid, but it's something that honestly irritated me. I used to live in Madison, but I don't anymore. I now live 2 hours away. But, while I was living in Madison, I grew to love this particular pasta salad that they offer here and every once in a while, I like to travel back to Madison to stock up, because typical grocery store pasta salads just don't do it for me. So, I strolled in today around 2 PM and noticed that this pasta salad was pretty much gone and I figured, well, if they have to make some more I can sit and wait. But when I asked about it, all they could do was shrug their shoulders and say, "Sorry, we don't have any more today. Maybe try tomorrow." But I live 2 hours away. I'm not driving the whole way back tomorrow just to see if you MIGHT have some. I mean, they have a kitchen back there! They could have easily made some more while I waited. Unless they buy it in bulk from some third party company. It made me feel like I have to, basically, call ahead and make reservations just for some pasta salad. And, I know they have quite a few other pasta salads available, but I didn't want any of those other ones. If the store reads these reviews, I would appreciate some direct feedback to see if we can figure...
Read moreNot much to say that hasn't been said before, but Gino's is a special place. You really can't go wrong with anything here. The spicy capicola sandwich is oh so good (and so are several others, but that one stands out in particular). I always pair it with some of the Greek salad, which is always fresh and has the perfect amount of dressing: flavorful without overpowering the tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and cheese. The market has a ton of great treats, take-home meals, all sorts of things. And best of all, it's priced quite reasonably, which makes this a spot I regularly return to.
I was surprised to see an Italian deli near the top of Madison's restaurants, and I was even more surprised when I saw the store (this location looks more like an auto repair garage than a delightful deli), but I was not surprised at all once I tried it. I've been here a number of times over the past couple years, and I plan on going back...
Read moreI’ve always liked Gino’s deli but I’m very disappointed that their staff do not wear any sort of mask during the spread of the COVID virus. When I said to the person taking my money But it looks like they do not wear protective masks, she said they didn’t need to because you only need to if you’re sick. When I said how would you know if you’re sick with the Covid she said there are tests and laughed at me. That cavalier and ignorant response and attitude makes we wonder about Gino’s and their care for their customers and even more so their care for other vulnerable people. Wearing a face mask is an easy thing to do to protect others and is being done by many business, and so it is hard to believe Gino’s claims on their website that they are taking reasonable precautions to protect people. Although I have always been a fan of Gino’s I no longer want to support their business at the risk of people’s health...
