I'm not personally vegan or vegetarian, but enjoy trying vegan restaurants with a vegan friend. Adventurous omnivores (and even non-adventurous) will certainly enjoy the food and atmosphere.
I ordered the Southwest Tofu Wrap (I subbed chipotle sauce instead of ranch) and a side of fruit. The food was wonderful! Bummer that wraps don't come with a side like the sandwiches do, but the side of fruit was lovely. It included apple slices, slices of clementine, and some blueberries; all fresh and great quality unlike some melon-heavy fruit cups that have sat too long). The tofu in the wrap was nicely seasoned and prepared. The wrap itself was a great size -- hearty and filling, not too big or too small, and with a good mix of ingredients. My dining companions both ordered the No Harm, No Fowl sandwich which looked wonderful and a great portion; they both had great things to say about it. We also shared the bunny-less balls which had a great cheesy flavor complemented by the sauce on top.
One negative is the space is not super accessible. There are stairs to enter which is not surprising in an older building on Willy Street. Otherwise, there was a rug that seemed like a tripping hazard. The tables are a bit to close together, especially for those in larger bodies or using mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.). Wooden chairs seemed sturdy.
Seems like cash or debit may be preferred as there is a 3% fee for credit, so...
Read moreThe reason I leave a lower review is mostly due to the atmosphere. So I know many probably know but this place is So small. It's quaint but it's really small- there's maybe like ten tables if that...i think my first visit i thought it was a little bigger so that was my bad for not doing more research. Parking is definitely a challenge also, since it's kind of a hole in the wall type location. The food was fine, but my complaint comes in with the cleanliness of the place itself. The bathroom not only is super tiny, it's dirty. There are pipes rusting, and the cleanliness of it is not great. Also, the water? The one you get served to drink, had a brownish tint to it so that was a little nerve wracking.
The food was okay- i love that it's vegan also! And the owner-server. Hes fantastic! He's efficient, he's effective, and he genuinely cares.
He cooks all the food.. and does all the serving too. Which is a huge compliment to him! But unsure how common that type of concept is so just understand that.
It's not a terrible place, I just think maybe I have higher expectations is all hence...
Read moreFor those who may not be certain, this is a vegan restaurant that makes use of meat substitutes in many of their dishes. Having said that, and speaking as an omnivore, it's delicious. My wife, the pescatarian, and I shared the loaded fries, she ordered a mad rabbit burger, and I had the mojave flatbread. We were absolutely stuffed when we left, and we still had leftovers to take home. The fries are excellent, well topped with vegan sausage, cheese, etc. I really enjoyed the mojave flatbread. Very tasty, with just the right amount of spice for my 'Sconnie palate. My wife enjoyed the burger. Honestly, even if you're not a vegan, I'd recommend this place. The food is really good, the serving sizes are plentiful, and the prices are reasonable. This is not some snooty higher-than-thou vegan place. It's good food that happens to cater to a subset of eaters. Go, enjoy, and take home the leftovers. They were still good...
