Nattspil — Restaurant in Madison

Me and a group of friends (4) went here to eat last night. Our server came up give us with water said nothing & walked away. He came back to take our orders for drinks & appetizers about 10 minutes later. kind of slow service & the place was not full. We all got our food which was delicious & patiently waited for him to come back 15-20 minutes later after finishing eating. We asked for our bill & when it came 5 minutes later he said he can't split it up for us the way we wanted. It was frustrating & we tried to politely ask him to figure out how we can pay for the food we ordered so we aren't shafting our friends. He then came back with a rude remark. I asked the bartender for a manager & he said "what's up" & i told him about the rude remark & that we just want our bill split up 3 ways. The server came back and had split the bill in a way I have never seen before in my life. he charged everyone for 1/4 the cost of every item that was ordered at the table. At this point i said look, just split the bill 2 ways this is getting ridiculous. He did so & we paid. my friend and I paid in cash and when he gave me the change back it was wrong. I then went to the manager and asked for my change and he replied "we round up". WHO DOES THAT?!?!? He gave me my change & then the supposed "manager" or bartender said I never want to see you here again. This is an example of the worst customer service I've ever had in my entire life. Came here on a Saturday. Very cool bar, love the vibe of the place, it was packed though! A little close inside, my companions said the drinks were good and stiff, but it was hard to hear them over the boisterous din within. Ordered the Dan Dan noodles and I was super hungry when they arrived. Noodles were rich but there was something just a little off in the flavor, probably would have paid more attention to the off flavor if I wasn't so hungry. Left about an hour later, got back to my hotel and turned on an episode of "Ghost Adventures", about 20 minutes into the episode I went to the bathroom and started puking. Then bouts of nausea and puking for about 45 minutes. Laid down and drank half of a 6$ water from the hotel, threw up again about an hour later and then finally got to sleep. Nauseous the next day until about noon. Was there to attend "The Taste of Madison" on Sunday, decided not to go because my stomach was so messed up. Really bad start to my vacation, I won't eat...

I have been coming to Natspill for a while for their food, but I believe last weekend was the last. Sat at the bar for the first time ever, and within a few minutes of our drinks being served, a cockroach crawled in between me and my girlfriend. We waited to see it again, and when we did, we called out to one of the chefs and he squashed it in front of us.

A few of the employees even the chef apologized and comped our drinks, but shortly after our food being served, we saw another cockroach on top of the bar. We should have left right there without paying, but instead we decided to sit patiently to alert staff again.

We did, and we got our appetizer comped. It's not that I disagree with the way they comped our food, I just think they should have gone a little bit more than above and beyond with an apology. The place is overall disgusting especially the small kitchen they have.
