Taqueria La Guadalupe — Restaurant in Madison

My wife and I was there on a Thursday for lunch at 11:30am. The restaurant was quiet with only 3 other tables full but it was early. My wife had the enchilada plate with 3 different enchiladas, rice, beans and side with lettuce, tomato and avocado. She said that all the items tasted great which was quite a statement she usually only like my enchiladas I fix at home. I always have carnitas if they have them going to a new Mexican restaurant. I can alway tell if they great carnitas everything else will be great and these were great. The carnitas were moist and flavorful on the inside and just a little bit of crisp on the outside. There was a good amount of meat with rice that was not your regular Jackson Mexican red rice this was true Mexican white rice and beans. We had so much food we had leftovers for supper. We've eaten here three or four times, and even though it really is a hole in the wall, the food and service are good. The portions are generous, and my wife really likes the margaritas, especially the mango margarita. As popular as Tex Mex is in our area, this restaurant hasn't taken off yet, and we like that because it means we don't have a long wait.

Update: after several months of continuing to eat out here, we continue to like it. The service is still good though patronage has increased. My wife still likes the margaritas :-). Today's rating is only because of the SLOW service. I've eating here anywhere from 1to 3 times a wk since they opened up at this location. I totally understand being busy BUT when one male waiter has ONE table with 6 ppl and the other male waiter has ONE table with 6 ppl. And the poor young girl is running herself ragged trying to wait on everyone else but it took her 17 mintues After we sat down to come n get our drink order. yes while the two males who have waited on us hundreds of times try not to look our way.
