I will not patron this place again. Service was passively terrible. After taking my order and payment for a coffee cake and medium iced Chai, I was told my order would be ready at the other side of the counter. As I waited, the server that took my order stood behind the counter not doing anything for several minutes. I eventually asked her if I could get the coffee cake now while I waited, she said, "sure", and rolled her eyes at me. She then placed the coffee cake in the microwave and it was too hot to eat, I would not have wanted it microwaved had she asked. I asked if it was frozen and she said, " no, it is refrigerated" I took the cake and sat down. Several minutes later, the girl making the coffee yelled at me from behind the machine, "your Chia is ready". My back was to her where I was sitting, so I got up and went to the counter and asked if she was talking to me about the Chia ready. She never left from behind the machine and said, "It's right there on the counter". There were several drinks on the counter unmarked so I took the one that appeared to be the iced Chia. As I sat in the shop and observed, the only two girls that appeared to be working seemed to not be so passively rude to other customers, bringing them their pastries and drinks, maybe they pick and choose who they might know to provide polite service to. I have never experienced this bad of service at a coffee shop with a very welcoming atmosphere. Too bad a nice place has such...
Read moreAs a visiting, fellow coffeebar owner, this coffee shop is exquisite. The space upon entering is warm and inviting- and so is the staff. The music was cheerful, the smell of coffee and warm pastries was delightful. The little mercantile area was beautifully arranged and the art on the walls was fun to look at.
The pastries? Smell, look and TASTE delicious! As a baker/bakery owner- I’m very picky with baked goods. Midtown’s? Knocked out of the park. When I say you could try any of them and love it- I mean it. I bought 5 items to try and each was as good as the last!
I enjoyed a lavender latte, and in case you are reading this review debating whether going- their house-made syrups are H E A V E N L Y. House-made, I just needed you to read it twice. Not many coffee shops do this anymore because of time constraints and the ease of buying Torani/Monin/DaVinci syrups. But house-made? It’s fresher, “cleaner” ingredients, and a shorter shelf life so not a ton of preservatives and additives. Plus the flavor is a million times better.
If you haven’t been here: the question is why not?! It’s phenomenal and Madras is lucky to have...
Read moreIt has been a while since I've given a five star review. But right down the line this place is wonderful. Right when you walk in the door, you can tell there's something special going on here. The two ladies serving at the counter were very friendly and welcoming. You can tell they want to be there. The coffee was spot on. The blueberry crumble warmed up was the best I've ever had. So tasty. The restaurant was clean, the bathrooms are clean. Everything here felt like the owners want to be in business, they want to serve a special experience to their customers, and they appreciate their customers. Highly recommended and definitely would stop...
