The Spot opened up shortly before we moved to Madras last December. My wife and I would try to go every Wednesday to listen to live music and drink a pint or two.
Andre did a nice job at setting this place up. He's always there and you can tell how hard he works to keep this place afloat as he would always be there, open to close, every day, every night. Yes, sometimes it would take a bit to get a beer because he would always be there by himself but I'm never in a rush to get a beer so that doesn't really bother me.
The times I went by myself, Andre would not engage in conversation with me that much regardless of how busy or how slow it was, which is totally cool BTW. I chill HARD. However every time I went there with my wife it was a different story. He would be more chatty and animated. I noticed this right away but it never really bothered me because even though he was undoubtedly more interested in having a conversation with "us". It never really got that far as we would just grab a seat not-at-the-bar and that would be the end of that.
The last time we went there though, well... that was different! We went there with my wife's work colleague, another lady. Got our drinks and sat outside on the patio. Suddenly Andre appears, red cup in hand and invites himself to sit with us. The first thing that came out of his mouth was "You know, I am in the business of making money" and while that may or may not be true, hubris and arrogance are lame and this guy sure wanted to make sure "we" knew that he has lots and lots of money. He then went to tell "us" about the many, many properties he owns and how he will be taking a break from The Spot and basically he is giving his place away to the woman that he said has hired to take over his shift when he's gone.
He told us he made her a "great deal" and then proceeds to try to recruit my wife and her colleague to work for him and he goes "I mean, how much money do you all make? $250 a day?" He kept on going, clearly trying to impress them and failing at it. He even had the foolhardiness to ask my wife's colleague for her number which she played it off and did not give to him because #1 she is also a married woman. Her wedding ring should have given him a hint and #2 she was like "Ew".
Oh Andre, thirsty is never attractive. In fact, it is the opposite of that. I'm surprised a financially successful man your age doesn't know this yet. I would recommend you hire someone to help you out behind the bar to see if you can serve your customers a bit faster which seems to be what people who have left your business a negative review complains about the most but make sure you pay them well so they don't quit on you. However, I do wish you much success in the prosperous city of Madras.
By the way, a travel NP makes around $700 to $900 a day, plus housing allowance of around $3,000 per month and a rental car.
UPDATE: No, we left Madras a month ago. The reason why I just left you a review is because my wife's colleague contract just ended at the end of June and being that Madras is a small town, I did not want to expose her the possibility of bumping into you again.
You wont own up to your actions I see and this is also not surprising. What is surprising is that a wealthy busy moneymaker guru like yourself has the time to respond to a review online - just an hour after I posted it - to lie. To lie about how often I went to your bar. Guy, you wish you had one single customer that would go to your bar 3 times a week! Me stare at you? Hilarious. You're trying to apply reverse psychology here? That's so clever. No wonder you have so much money, Mr Boast-a-lot.
This review irks you for the sole reason that everything I have written here is factual and I have proof. Be a man and admit the truth and if you don't have the pluck to do that then just be quiet.
You know...

Most people in Madras don’t realize this hidden gem is actually an event center! I stopped in today (Sunday evening) and had a great experience. The customer service was excellent — friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, especially out on the patio with fireplaces going. It’s a comfortable spot whether you’re looking to unwind or catch up with friends.
There’s an upstairs and downstairs, and the upstairs can be rented out for private events — definitely a nice option for parties or gatherings. Andre, the owner, has a great personality and makes you feel right at home.
I didn’t have drinks this time, but I’ve had them before — always solid. The chicken meteors and fries are a must-try, seriously tasty. There are usually a couple of food trucks just outside, which is a cool bonus for those days when you want something different — though today, they were closed. Still, it’s great to know that option’s usually there, especially in a town where variety can be hard to find.
Definitely recommend checking this place out. One of Madras’s...

Second, it wasn't until I held my ground and told you I didn't want my burger (the third time) that you finally figured out that I meant what I said. That was after I waited patiently at the bar for OVER 40 minutes. You made ZERO effort to explain the kitchen was backed up, or that food would likely take a while. IN FACT - When I put my drink order in, you said, "order your food now too. It's the time we do that."
You did a poor job that day. You earned your bad review, which I rarely give. You did such a lousy job, have a lousy attitude. You get good reviews. Hopefully this was a fluke. Your attitude leads me to believe it's not.
Food was not prepared after 70 minutes. Service - almost none Dirty seat, counter. No help, limited awareness. They had three tables seated, too. They charge a little under $20...
