We had to wait 45+ minutes to get our food outside in the heat waiting very patiently, we asked them very nicely how much longer it was going to take, because we had another 2 and half hour drive home and they told us we were next in line.
When it came out it was luke warm, tiny portion sizes and my son's meal I couldn't tell what it was at first but after picking it up I noticed it was a "burrito", the a tortilla shell was flopped in half with beans literally pouring out to bottom. I got up and went inside to talk to them. I told the waitress I just wanted his meal taken off the bill because it wasn't what we ordered, also thinking I'm not waiting another 45 minutes for more subpar food at premium price.
She came out to our table and looked at the burrito and told me and my wife "that's how our burritos are." I was shocked and said "your burritos come as a mess?" you couldn't even pick this one up. She kept saying that's how our burritos come. I was pretty fed up took our son and dogs to our truck while my wife handle the bill which they ultimately took his meal off.
We were half tempted just to leave but didn't want to do that to a small business. They have zero time management skills, there was literally only 2 small groups ahead of us when we got there and the placed filled up because they weren't getting people their food in a timely manner. They got the chips and salsa out and our order done quickly so I thought is was going to be quick but obviously wasn't. I was frankly appalled at this experience. The worst I've had in a while. Taco Bell would have been better. Don't waste your time because they don't mind if they do and will charge you for it. These restaurants are getting ridiculous these days. I've had better food out of a 7Eleven at a fraction the...
Read moreSmall Mexican restaurant legitimately trying to be distinctive in the flavor profile of what they prepare. For example, our slow-cooked pork tomatillo enchilada verde dish had LOTS of diced zucchini in it. Unusual for Mexican food but delicious and lightened up this sometimes heavier dish and made it feel healthy.
We also ordered the shrimp and scallop mole dish which was $25 and provided a reasonable amount of shrimp and scallops for that price. The mole was complex but not super deep and again, felt healthy.
Where this restaurant had issues was with the coordination of the different people working there, the standardization of customer service and the feeling that you were being taken care of in a way that was coordinated.. the team seemed to not know each other very well or have figured out how to work well together. The timing of the things happening on front of house with being seated, having your order taken and having your table service brought and renewed was very disjointed. This kind of disjointed service gives the customers of feeling of anxiety and a lack of certainty that their needs are being taken care of.
I look forward to this team knowing each other better and having clear and consistent instructions about how things should perceive in front of house so that the service and the food can be on par with...
Read moreRio is a wonderful little restaurant. We sat at their outdoor patio and enjoyed fantastic food, excellent service and enjoyed watching the sunset. We ordered the guacamole appetizer and were amazed to learn that they make right at your table. They have all the fresh ingredients ready to add to some great looking avocados. The presentation was awesome and the guac tasted as good as it looked! Their chips are to die for! They are fresh, crispy and are made for dipping into their homemade salsa. After all the chips, salsa and guacamole I thought I’d have a hard time eating my meal. When my fish tacos were brought out, once again I was impressed with the presentation. The breaded fish was cooked to perfection and the sauce and garnish really complemented the flavor. The rice and beans are served on a separate plate, which I appreciated, so none of them interfered with the tacos. They were equally as tasty as the rest of the food. If you are in the mood for some fantastic Mexican food then I suggest you stop at Rio and enjoy some. Oh, we also met the owner who made time to come out and check on each table to make sure everyone was happy and enjoying themselves. This is a great restaurant and we will definitely be back again and...
