Super fancy decor. Good food. The only problem is super loud music after 6pm. No possibility to talk. And they constantly run out of some items. xxxxxxxxxx Here is an update. From hero to zero.
After a year I gave this place another chance. When you walk in you still get confused with decor. It's not clear if you are in lounge, bar or nightclub. Low seats in booths not comfortable for eating due the distance from table. You need to seat on the edge in order to eat. Then we waited good 15 minutes for water. And that's goes down from here. Despite the fact that food is ok but little overpriced (you can get far better price for delicious sushi in downtown or Bucktown) the music is so damn loud you can't order. And I will accept ambient music, with a little Asian hint but not Greek music with flying napkins all over . people are dancing there like it's a club. Then Latino music came super loud. I couldn't have decent conversation with my friend. It was kind of awkward. Then a break came and we were hoping for few minutes of not yelling at each other. But no. That didnt happened. I have asked server to lower Music down and watched her talking to the manager but he just walked away from her and put music louder. We decided to leave. And I don't think I would ever go back there. It's kind of funny cause we went to the park across the street and we still heard loud Gipsy Kings songs.. There is so many places that guests will be treated with respect, its a patrons that pays their bills after all. So be aware of this place unless you are 20 something old hipster and you enjoy eating in nightclub vibe. Asians knows that eating is celebration. It's a ritual but I guess it's not valuable And important aspect of this...
Read moreHad been to the Arlington heights location and had great service and an overall great experience so thought I would try the Park Ridge location. Upon arrival waitress was nice and appetizers came out in a timely manner. Was there for my dads birthday dinner and he had never been so wasn’t sure what to order or how much came with it. He ordered the Golden lobster and is a big guy so when asked if he wanted one or two orders he decided two and the waitress did proceed to tell us it was a large portion but he figured he could eat it. When the food arrived the portions were HUGE and we knew immediately we ordered too much food so we kindly asked if we could send one back as I have at other restaurants because obviously mistakes happen. She proceeded to speak with her manager and came back and told us unfortunately no we couldn’t and would have to pay for both…keep in mind it was $26 EACH so it would’ve been $52 total which is absurd for sushi. I understand lobster isn’t cheap but I’ve never encountered this at any other restaurant. Usually they will take the food back and just dump it. The $ didn’t bother me tho it was the attitude I received from the waitress and watching her talk about the issue to her manager several times where I could see her and it seemed as if she was gossiping. Very unprofessional in my opinion..what happened to the customer is always right? In my opinion the restaurant didn’t wanna lose $ so they didn’t care to assist me in any way. Definitely will not be returning to this location again. Very disappointed with the lack of empathy and disrespect from the waitress. I believe her...
Read moreCalled and reserved a table for 7 people (I’ve always loved going to shakou before and wanted to celebrate my birthday there and was super excited to get the sushi boat), but when I arrived they had the reservation for 6 people. It wasn’t a huge deal luckily since I had someone cancel. They didn’t have a table ready for us so we waited a few minutes. Finally they gave us a table that seated 4 ( very small space) and was extremely wobbly. If you touched it, the table would tip over so I was concerned about ordering the big boat... I asked someone in front if there was another table we could have instead and she said no. I understood it can be busy but I did notice many open spaces. I let her know that the table was wobbly and she put a piece of a takeout box on the bottom, it was still very wobbly and even she was surprised that the table was tipping over. She still asked if it was okay to leave it like that. I mean obviously I didn’t want that since I was going to order the big boat and share among 6 of us in a small table... I saw a family leave right behind us and asked if we could switch to that table. I was willing to wait for it to be picked up and said just said no. At that point I just felt so uncomfortable I decided to leave. It’s a shame too cuz I’ve been to other Shakou restaurants before and it’s always been great but this location just seemed rude and didn’t want to accommodate or even find a solution. Definitely ruined birthday plans that night... but luckily Blufish was located nearby and they were very accommodating for a...
