We decided to try the new Taco place in Maitland- Talkin' Tacos. I believe it originated from a taco truck in Miami. It is a casual place with indoor and outside seating. They only offered the metal chairs of death to sit in. Music was Latin and upbeat on the louder side. You order at a kiosk (super easy ordering - allowing omissions, extra protein and notes). The staff brings out the food.
The good- greeted immediately and staff refilled horchata when she noticed my son had finished it.
The bad- the food came out at different times.
The very good/excellent - the food.
SW Chicken tacos- corn tortilla, grilled chicken, black beans salsa, spicy mayo, fried onions, cotija cheese and cilantro. No skimping here and good flavor. Very good!
Cali burrito- flour tortilla, rice, cheese sauce, french fries, Chihuahua cheese, spicy mayo and cilantro. My husband omitted the avocado salsa, sour cream and Takis. He added extra chicken but said it was not needed because it was stuffed. It came with Crisp tortilla chips. Excellent!
Chicken burrito- flour tortilla, Mexican rice, refried beans, Chihuahua cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo and served with chips. He omitted the Takis, avocado salsa and sour cream. Very Good!
Quesadilla Pabellon- flour tortilla, avocado salsa, Chihuahua cheese, beef barria, fried sweet plantains and black beans. Topped with onions and cilantro. Served with chips and the consomme. Excellent!
This place is about a million times better than Tijuana flats and about 3/4 of a million better than Capital tacos.
Portions are all substantial! They do have Mexican Coke, lots of specialty drinks, Jarritos, some desserts and you can buy their hot sauces.
This place does a crazy amount of take...
Read moreWell, it have to say the one and only time I've eaten here was not good. I guess they had one vegan option and then took it away so during a work lunch, my boss ordered me a burrito and customized for me so that I could eat it. It has cheese on top and steak inside, both of which are not vegan. We called and they said they would remake it. I went to pick it up, mind you this is supposed to be a bean burrito with veggie toppings. When I got back to eat it, again, there were no beans so we called again. They told the girl that called for me that we were stealing the food and needed to bring back the burrito they had just made. It was brought back to them to show that the burrito did not have beans in it. They made another one and put the beans on the side, in a container. I don't know what those beans were attempting to be, but they didn't look like any beans I've seen. They looked more like a bean soup it was so watery. I didn't even want to eat them and threw them in the trash and couldn't eat because my stomach hurt from accidentally eating the cheese they had put on the first burrito. Thankfully, I saw the steak before eating that or I might have had to go to the hospital. Service was abysmal and the lack of care they showed towards trying to create a good customer interaction fell to the wayside. I will not be eating...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. This location does not appear to adhere to food safety protocols, food allergy and cross contamination guidelines, or adequate staff training. Do not expect a store manager to be present. Do not expect hospitable service. Do not assume your order is correct. If the incorrect order is remade, do not expect that order to be correct. (Ours was made three times and incorrect all three times. That equals three separate trips to the same location to no avail. We gave up after the third one). Expect to be accused of being dishonest and attempting to steal food. Expect to be asked for proof of an incorrect order. Expect to be refused for an order correction unless the incorrect order is brought back in person. Expect no accommodations or priority to be given to those who need an order correction. Expect to hear staff members gossip and speak poorly of you in a different language than you present with.
Save yourself and others the trip, time, and money, and protect your health by choosing another place to eat. This lesson cost us $94, three trips to and from the store, and food allergy management. Give our suffering some meaning by choosing somewhere...
