5/4/24: I took my whole family back here again for the third time. Service and food are superb.

I ordered on 5/4/24: Appetizer: Miso Soup

Appetizer: Ginger Duck Roll - my husband and I enjoyed this roll. The marinated duck is very noise, cut into small pieces and wrapped with savory pickled cucumbers, sprouts, and rolled with what looked and tasted like Malaysian flaky paratha. It taste very unique with a nice balanced flavor. I definitely would order this ginger duck roll again next time I come back.

Appetizer: Miso Caramel Brussel Sprouts - server recommended this appetizer and it's now my favorite brussel sprout appetizer at this place, sweet glazed sauce with a little spicy kick at maybe level 1, you can't hardly taste the spiciness though

Dragonfly Roll - husband and daughter love it.

Yaki Udon Noodles - kids approved

Yuzu Miso Seabass - 3 chunky tender pieces of Seabass topped on a bed of fried rice. My family wasn't impressed with the fried rice.

1st time: I fell in love with this restaurant the first time I visited because of their delicious grilled squid. I order grilled squid and grilled miso sea bass bento lunch special. Their grilled squid and grilled miso sea bass are delectable. Friendly customer service. Five stars.

2nd time: I was so disappointed to know they no longer offer the grilled squid on their menu. I took my kids and mom here with the main purpose of letting them try the grilled squid. I ended up ordering a salmon soy bento box, miso sea bass bento box, unagi roll, stir fry udon noodles with beef, and fried squid tails. The sea bass is good as always, the salmon was slightly overcooked, fried squid tails were tough and chewy for my mom and MIL. Stir fry udon with beef was good. Kids approved. Friendly customer service. Overall, the main reason I came back here because of their grilled squid. I hope they will offer the grilles...

Best Happy Hour anywhere. Food is usually extremelly good. I was there when they opened and the table was a bit dirty when I sat down.

The service was very bad. My server was a mid 20's male. I was by myself and told the server I wanted to take my time and try a bunch of items. I ordered 7 items and he brought 4 of the larger dishes out one on top of the other. I asked him to slow down the food and 4 minutes later he brought another large dish. He said that he didnt want it to sit in the back and get cold. He clearly didnt get it. Ill explain at the end of this post what he clearly missed.

The next 2 dishes were brought out 5 mins apart and had obviously been sitting around. The seaweed on the hand roll was soft and falling apart and the fried dragon roll was room temp because the grease had set.

From the time I sat down to the time I had 7 dishes on my table was about 20 minutes. As fast as he was to bring out every dish, he was super slow to clear any of the plates. I had to ask for water twice.

Considering he brought all 7 dished out in about 20 minutes, I had to wait about another 20 minutes to get the bill. I could hear him chatting it up with his partner behind the screen.

When I got the check, I pointed out what he clearly didnt get, or cared to understand. The food he claimed was getting cold in the back, got cold sitting on my table because I couldnt eat all that food that fast! I told him that I am 1 person, how in the world was I going to eat all the food that fast? He tried to throw some shade on me for not telling him specifically to not fire all the dishes at once. I still tipped 15 percent.

Moving forwaed, I will forever order 1 dish at a time.

Are there any young people that actually give a crap about being good at what...

The worst manager ever Greg! Went to pick up about 90$ worth of takout in pouring rain. We were called a few minutes later to see if we could return for a possible mixup. Someone came out to the car reached into the bag to retrieve what we found out was an extra order of chicken fried rice to give to someone else!!?? We were stunned honestly! I think that is a health code violation especially during COVID!

I was Shocked as Greg looked at me with no apology stone faced. I said do you think you could offer something as an apology for returning in the storm? He offered a free soup (which is broth equivalent to a glass of water). OMG!!

2nd occasion we dined in because takeout is no longer an option since then and takeout portions are SO much smaller ! Brussel Sprout appetizer lacked flavor and was basically raw. We explained to the server. So maybe instead try edamame sadly those were also tasteless and soggy . Maybe they could just take appetizer off the bill?( We ordered 4 meals plus another appetizer) mind you..

Greg the manager comes to the table to find out why 2 appetizers were sent back . We explained..his reply I will make new edamame..even though we didn't like the way it was prepared etc. He wanted to make sure we paid for them!! What manager forces someone to eat and pay for something they clearly do not want! I honestly have never encountered a manager that bad!

We will not be back knowing he is there! Servers really do their best to try to do what they can must be hard for them to work with him.

The other restaurants next door were pretty crowded but not here on Saturday evening..word must be out.

Very sad and...

Boku Sushi is easily one of the best sushi restaurants in all of Orlando - there are a lot of REALLY good places here, and the level of complexity and flavor in their rolls truly outshines almost everywhere else! I heard they fly in their sushi twice a week from a fish market in Japan, and the quality of fish really shows in their food! If you’re someone like me, and like unique sushi rolls different from your standard California roll or Philadelphia roll, this is the place for you! Not only do they have amazing sushi, but incredible appetizers and other Japanese entrees! Boku can get pretty busy, especially on weekends, and it’s right in the middle of downtown Maitland, so you might have to park in the garage right next door. This place is entirely worth visiting from quite far though - I would highly recommend their miso caramelized Brussels sprouts (which literally don’t even taste like Brussels sprouts, they are so good), Tom yum soup, and rolls like the Maui Waui, Dragonfly, and Tataki. Those three rolls are some of the best-tasting sushi rolls I have ever had anywhere. This place is just so, so good!! I haven’t tried everything, but I would be willing to bet other dishes like their ginger duck roll, pork belly bao buns, beef kushiyaki, chicken karaage, and seared tuna truffle would all be excellent options as well. Honestly, so many hot and cold tastings as well as full entrees look incredible, it is completely overwhelming (and awesome). I will update my review with more recommendations when I visit next time. I will certainly be coming back!! Check this place out very soon!
