There is a lot to unload with my visit and I'm including a couple of suggestions as well. My wife wanted to go out and so we chose Tuckers Place, because we have had fantastic service at the other 2 locations. We got there Saturday shortly after 5:30pm. My wife and father in law went in and put our name on the list (Kathryn) and Sat on the patio. I parked and walked in and met them on the patio. They informed me our name was on the list, they knew where we were, and we also chose first available so we could chose to sit outside or inside since it was nice out. After about 20 minutes I stepped inside and stopped by the host desk. I mentioned I was with Kathryns party and we were still sitting outside on the patio waiting for a table but asked if it was okay if I stepped to the bar to get us some drinks while we waited. I was advised of course and then I proceeded to the bar. Bar was not insanely busy but the staff did have the overall perception of not wanting to really deal with customers as we interrupted the conversations the staff was having. Multiple times I met eyes with multiple staff and only one said something behind the bar to me when they were through with the conversation of whatever it was.
After another 15 minutes of waiting on the patio I checked with the host desk on our table. I was informed we were marked as no call no show. We absolutely did not no call no show... We never left. The issue here is I witnessed other a couple other parties who were sitting on the patio who went when the staff walked outside and announced the table for them was ready. When I was inside at Bar I heard a PA system announcing names. There is NO speaker outside that I saw or heard that was calling names and no one walked outside to check if our party was there prior to just removing us from the list. The main host person just accepted what happened while another - I really wish I captured her name- but she jumped into action and got my family a table. Thank you to whoever you were.
Our waiter did not list our specials to our table. I did overhear the specials later from someone else introducing themselves to another table. Wife asked for rolls that never came. I asked for water multiple times before getting a literal sip of water poured into my cup with an 'im sorry there isn't more right now will be back. ' I had to then ask for more water as he did not come back. My steak, while flavorful from the rub, was dry. I'm sorry. I really am but it was medium WELL when I asked for medium RARE. I did not say anything as it would not have been helpful as the entire experience I just wanted to be over. I was angry and did not want to cause any scene and possibly ruin someone else's evening. I truly was floored and appalled and I really am just disappointed at the level of service my family and I received. This is not what I know Tuckers Place to be.
Recommendations- When announcing for tables walk outside and check the patio if the person doesn't respond inside. Or Put a speaker outside where customers waiting on the patio can hear when it is their turn.
Review with wait staff touchpoints and reducing customer asking for the same thing over and over. Maybe have a supervisor check in or manager check in on tables. Would make a world...
Read moreWalking into Tucker’s Place restaurant off Manchester, right through the door, it is evident that this restaurant is quite experienced in the food service industry. This old eatery is situated in the back of a low shopping center, which is hard to view from the street. My dad and his fiancée recommended Tucker’s Place to me in casual conversation, and my dad was persistent in his review, insisting that I go. After eating only one meal here, I began taking his advice on food spots much more often. Almost immediately after entering the restaurant, my girlfriend and I were hastily taken to our table by the host, who wasted no time getting us to our dining experience. The host delivered us to the back of the cozy building at a table against the warm, red bricked wall. The table where we were sitting was quite long, and the seating arrangement of the restaurant was a tight squeeze. Unfortunately, this somewhat took away from the experience. The waitress quickly ran water to the table and constantly refilled it throughout the dinner, regardless of the fact that the restaurant was quite full and busy. In addition to the attentive service at arrival, I noticed how personal conversation between guests and staff flowed as if they were family. Guests asked the servers questions like, "How is your daughter, Jenny?" establishing a strong sense of community. The crowd was mostly calm retirees, causing conversation to naturally flourish in contrast to many modern cafes filled with ruckus. The walls were uniquely decorated with old portraits that instilled a stable historic feel, which evoked the notion that this sturdy brick building had been around for a very long time and would be around for a long time to come. A common issue I have with buying burgers is that the patties often aren’t big enough. Less than 8 ounces is a no-go. The burger was 9 ounces and cost less than ten dollars, which is a rare occurrence in the increased prices of dining today. Not only was it a cheap burger, but it also had a very soft yet crispy bun, very thick crunchy pickles, and fresh lettuce. Before the main course arrived, the waitress provided warm rolls served with softened butter and a large side salad. Rather than most kitchens, which go with fries on the side, Tucker’s Place takes a more traditional route. Served along with the burger was their famous one-pound baked potato. This absolutely loaded potato comes with a variety of toppings, including butter, chives, sour cream, and even bacon. The meal ended with an empty plate and the desire to write an efficacious review. With all things considered, if looking for a new place to eat out, check out Tucker’s Place. The sufficient food, ambiance, and attentive service are testament to their quality as an establishment. I personally like to try different types of food and different restaurants each time I go to dinner with my girlfriend; however, Tucker’s Place has now earned itself a spot in my go-to...
Read moreProbably one of the worse restaurants I’ve been to in my life. Called ahead of time(days in advanced) to let them know we will have a large party. Got to the restaurant and was told by the owner or Fay shift supervisor we were on the wait list. Came back( as directed) and was still not on the waitlist. Since we had such a large party and the waitlist was not correct we had to sit outside and listen to the two servers stare at us with attitudes and tell us where the manager sat us will not work. After several minutes they let us stay seated. During the entire time we were there it was nothing but attitudes and poor service. No refills on drinks, food took extremely long( mind you we sat down at 410 and did not receive our food until 630ish. We had to send THREE entrees back for our group. All flavor less. Hamburger bun harder than a rock, ordered a med-well steak that came out well done, and a pork chop that was so hard you couldn’t use the steak knife to cut it! Zero exaggeration!! I was told by my server this “steakhouse” does not/can not make a med well steak and they will all come out the same. My daughter ordered cheese sticks and fries and after my entire party sat and ate for 10-15 min they still did not have her food. I had go find my server to get my daughters food and only the cheese sticks came out. If you’re wondering, yes I still had to pay for it! She couldn’t even eat them. Why? Because she had to wait an additional 10 Mins for the cheese sticks to come out and another 10 on the fries. Wasted money. The server surely had no problem adding a tip on my bill for herself. Crazy! I am baffled by this experience and management team. I spoke with the supervisor and could tell there was not a care in the world. I will absolutely NEVER come back this place again. I work had for my money and the way this place took it and treated us is...
