I’ve been here a few times, once dining in and a few others to get a latte. When I went with a friend for the first time we were sat by the bathroom and right across from the entrance to the kitchen/service counter. They began stacking glasses and emptying bins of silverware- both of which were loud beyond belief. I get it, they have a job to do, but this was ridiculous. The staff that wasn’t working as hard as others were chatting away, laughing and having fun while the wait staff was working their tails off. They would yell at each other from across the kitchen as well. It was very unpleasant. However, I liked their latte so much that I have gone back three times to get one to go. Every time there is a line of people outside waiting while tables sit empty and not cleaned. I always see the same wait staff, over worked and reasonably stressed, while a man who i assume is the manager yells loudly across the room to talk to friends and relax behind the register. This man does not care about what he’s doing. Last time I was there I got a latte to go and it took a while to get the supposed managers attention to even order. I place my order and wait. His friend comes up and they chit chat about 5 minutes after, friend leaves, comes back, gets their lattes before me. 3 mins later I get my lattes from the same, stressed, and overworked kid who no one helps, that handles the coffee every time. As if this wasn’t enough the manager is rolling a glass and doing some sort of cup song maneuver against the counter. SO LOUD! This guy has no respect and honestly no reason to work in the service industry. Unpleasant and putting on a constant facade. Please find a work to no longer overwork the same staff and get the guy with the glasses who I assume is the manager...
Read moreWe recently stopped by Bluestone Café in Manhattan Beach for a to-go order, drawn in by its prime location right on the main street, offering a beautiful view of the area. The café itself has a great atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly sweet and attentive, even though it was quite busy. We ordered the BL Burrito and the Athletic Burrito, both priced around $17. Unfortunately, while the setting and service were pleasant, the food itself didn’t quite meet expectations. The portion sizes felt underwhelming for the price, and the flavor, while decent, wasn’t anything special. A major downside was the lack of salsa or sauce, which could have elevated the experience. Additionally, the small side salad that came with the order was disappointing, offering just two to three bites, not much for a meal at this price point. It was good and the pickled onions added good flavor to the arugula! But again, just portion size was the biggest missed mark and would not recommend this place. The wait time was a bit longer than expected, likely due to the crowd, but that’s understandable for a busy spot. Overall, while the location and service were great, the burritos missed the mark for us. If you’re looking for a quick bite in a scenic spot, it might be worth a try, but we’d recommend managing expectations when it comes to portion size and overall value,...
Read moreSecond time coming in after a decent experience a few months ago. The server took my name down on a piece of paper as there were no tables available at the time. A table became ready; however no one was monitoring the host stand and the paper was completely covered by a rag. Eventually got seated after we flagged down one of the four servers hanging out at the bar. When our food arrived, the hot coffee was lukewarm - almost cold and the crisps had only a few whole crisps and the rest were crumbs. The sandwich was just okay - a bit mushy because it was left out for a bit so the avocado spread softened the toast. After delivering food, service was close to non-existent as all the servers disappeared into the kitchen area even though there were still a few occupied tables left in the restaurant. Best part was the water was self-service though so we didn't need to rely on the servers...
