Fat's Bar — Restaurant in Manhattan

Fat's is a bit like the collegiate, clientele it attracts...loud, energetic and erratic. The music bounces off the wall as the co-eds noisily sing along to popular tunes. The lone pool table is surrounded by players of varying degrees of skill, there more for the atmosphere than because it's an ideal place to play pool. The bar's star is it's signature drink "The Fishbowl." It's just as one would picture it, a small sized fishbowl glass with a variation of drink specials to appeal to all tastes. I tried the Corpus Christi and was pleased with it's tropical, breezy taste that wasn't overwhelmingly strong. The bartender was pleasant and friendly, the quiet yet polite presence of the staff was a refreshing contrast to the boisterous crowd. I don't think I would've been able to handle a loud crowd AND staff. Overall, this is not a spot for the low-key patron looking for a place to sit and reflect. don’t bother trying to pay for the touchtunes. they’re straight up scamming here. whatever bartenders were there last night skipped over all of the music i paid for despite me putting different genres that i liked and some i know the other people in the bar would’ve liked. no one else had cued music and only ONE song of mine played which they turned down to almost completely silent. i paid for some priority songs too and they were all skipped.
