The trans lady with glasses (I don’t know her name and that’s her only defining feature from the other women, and I also don’t care I’m also transgender it’s fine) really really likes to give you considerably less than everyone else, I always try to avoid going there when she’s there because she will without a doubt give me so much less than the people I come with and it’s actually aggravating to see other people get what they paid for and I get barely anything over the top of my waffle cone. I love mom and pops, it’s amazing and it’s wonderful that it’s open so late, but she is what’s keeping me from coming there and bringing others that I know with me, because all customers can agree that they don’t like it when a business is being frugal when you’re spending your hard earned money, we can go elsewhere, and I’m not even being entitled to wanting more than what I paid for she does NOT give you what you pay for. That’s all the criticism I have for this shop, otherwise, literally everyone else (including the owners, unless she is one of them) gives you the happy amount that keeps people coming back. Writing this because she just served me and it was again disappointing. Seriously, I am...
Read moreWe were discriminated against and treated very rudely. Our family will not be returning. After reading a comment below I see we aren’t the only ones. All 7 members of my family, aside from myself were wearing masks. I cannot and carry a detailed doctor’s note. The owner in the comment below says that they cannot allow unmasked people due to following the governors orders. This is not true. I told them that the governor has a medical exemption and I was told “we take it a step further.” Yes, they take it a step further by discriminating against the very people they claim to protect, the vulnerable. We used to frequent this shop but will never again get ice cream there. On another note.... the staff were NOT following social distancing either. They have also made it difficult for customers to social distance due to tables in the lobby and by not restricting the flow of traffic.
Edited to add: I called New Ulm's EIS since the other patron who was also kicked out suggested them. They were incredibly understanding and said that they of course welcome guests with medical exemptions. We’re on our...
Read morecame into this shop because of the many great reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. From the moment we walked in, a young woman behind the counter seemed visibly irritated just by our presence. Her demeanor was agitated, impatient, and unwelcoming.
I was with my dad, mom, husband, sister, myself, and my 4 children — all ordering ice cream one at a time. With each order, her annoyance only seemed to grow. I normally never like to “pull the race card” and truly want to believe that people treat each other equally, regardless of background. But I can’t ignore the fact that this felt different. Whether it was the end of her shift or something else entirely, it left me wondering if being people of color played a part.
To make matters worse, several other staff members were present and simply stared without offering any warmth or assistance while she served us with such clear irritation. Because of this, I would not return, and it’s disappointing to have had such an unpleasant experience in a place so...
