OH MY COD 😱
Alright alright I gotta scale down the puns 🐟 But there’s nothin’ more appropriate than a rated-PG pun for Pappageorge’s… 🫢😉
After a lil’ alliteration, here’s the lineup:
Fish And Chips 🐟 🍟 Hand battered Cod with fries and slaw Black And Blue Burger 🍔 Cajun and Bleu cheese
Pappageorge Pizza 🍕 🧄 Garlic, olive oil base, feta, mozzarella, kalamato, pepperocini, tomato, oregano
From Pappageorge’s in Mankato 🛣
I had the burger, and I’ll say it was sensational 👌 The blue cheese brought the funk while the cajun seasoning contributed the capsaicin 🔥 It was a unique spicy-n-savory symphony for adventurous eater. And this applies to all the dishes with fries—these were absolutely amazing 🤩 They weren’t from-the-freezer failures, but rather golden brown, crispy, and delightful. I’d eat a basket of ‘em on their own! 😄
Fish and chips were flaky and light. Not too greasy, full of flavor and fried to perfection💯 Paired with such heavenly fries, this was a potently perfect combo.
The Pizza was rich with Italian flavors, very cheesy and filling 🧀 If you like olive oil and garlic, you won’t get sick of this appetizer 😁 Great to share… or devour on your own 🤫

Read moreThis is a smallish restaurant, booking is advised. It is closed more often than most, check the times. Lunch is average but dinner is outstanding. There’s nothing here that wasn’t absolutely first class. Beautiful fresh calamari, the best shrimp for a literal hundred miles. The wild mushroom ravioli in Gorgonzola sauce with medallions of fillet mignon is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. Never let that chef go. They are way too good for Mankato. The downside is the dining room. It doesn’t flow well & fights with the bar for attention. It can be crowded and noisy. It lets the food down. Unlike Maggies, it comes across as cliquish and full of a certain demographic of older, loyal customers. Despite eating there every 4-6 weeks for years, we were always greeted as strangers. We’d book for 8 pm, which was when most guests were gone - but not quite late enough to upset the staff. This not a kid friendly restaurant which is a huge plus for two overworked grown ups trying to find a little peace & pleasure.

Read moreWe were in this weekend and had a below average experience. Our server was rude when I asked for a drink recommendation. I enjoy trying special drinks that maybe they’d be known for, but instead I got looked at like I was stupid. We had a larger group and I tried to be helpful and ask if they’d like us to tell them how the checks would be split and I basically got laughed at. (Which she assumed wrong at the end anyway). I’m a manager at a restaurant and if my servers treated any of our guests the way I was treated, I’d be so disappointed.
My food was subpar for the price. Overally salty and still hungry at the end. For spending $90, before tip, I felt it was definitely not worth it.
I’ve lived in Mankato my whole life and this was probably the 5th time I’ve eaten there. Definitely a reason for that and would choose many other places over this one.
Maybe our server was having a bad night, I’m not sure, but didn’t seem like it when her friends walked in. I’m saddened that I had this experience. I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews but I felt very disrespected...
