I recently visited with my family to celebrate a birthday, and we all left hungry. My family wanted to visit since it was their first time, and they were highly disappointed. The food was okay; we tried the Ultimate Trio Appetizer (mozzarella sticks, quesadillas, boneless wings), a cheeseburger with fries, onion rings, and the Shrimp ‘N Parmesan steak sirloin with mashed potatoes and green beans. The trio was a decent appetizer except for the wings; the texture was tough. My steak was cold by the time I was able to eat, as my utensils were dirty. I was told that the onion rings were quite crispy, served with a nice tangy sauce. The cheeseburger’s presentation was unappetizing and I was told that it tasted like it came from a high school cafeteria, and that the fries were better than the burger.
The service we received from Zoey was insulting. After the entrees were brought over, I noticed that my utensils were dirty (see photos). I looked at the other tables being waited, checking for my waitress and she couldn’t be found. After about 20 minutes she and another waitress came back inside the restaurant and began chatting behind the bar. I waved for her attention. Seemingly annoyed, she walked over. I showed her the dirty fork and steak knife, and explained that I wasn’t able to eat yet because my utensils were dirty. Zoey did not respond and stared at me with a smile. I iterated that I needed clean utensils and Zoey continued to blankly smile at me. I then asked for a cup of hot water, to which Zoey replied, “Sure”. About 5 minutes later, Zoey arrived with a cup of hot water and I placed my utensils in the water; before she left the table I asked Zoey for to-go boxes as the tabletop was getting full. About two minutes later, Zoey came back with the boxes and my bill. I thanked her for the boxes and told her I didn’t need the check yet, to which Zoey replied, “Well I assumed since you wanted boxes you were ready for the check”. I told Zoey, “Oh, no. I’ll let you know when I’m ready for the check. But I do appreciate you for being proactive”. Zoey didn’t seem very interested in serving my table, and even after soaking for 10 minutes, my steak knife remained soiled. Zoey’s demeanor changed when I finally asked for the check. She began to try and make small talk and was giggling as she spoke. I returned the banter as it was the only pleasant interaction betwixt us. My family was surprised by the experience and said that it didn’t live up to their expectations of what they thought “Applebees” was all about. The atmosphere was nice. I liked that it was dimly lit and despite a few families being present, it wasn’t noisy. It would have been nice to have brighter lights at the individual booths and tables; my family had some trouble reading the menu. The lighting should be adjusted for those who struggle optically. My family rated their food -6/10, and their overall experience -5/10. I personally would rate my food as 4/10 and my...
Read moreSeems to be a theme of the service here getting progressively worse and the bartenders/waiters/waitress not caring at all about the customers and its really apparent in their attitudes. We’ve been going to Applebees for years and it keeps getting worse.
We came last night and sat at the bar for 15 minutes without being acknowledged with the bar tender standing right there. She was obviously extremely busy focusing on just making drink orders for tables. She could have at least acknowledged us and said she would be with us shortly. We had to stop and call her over for everything including ordering our drinks and food because she would not come over. My husband at one point asked for a second beer and she said yes then walked away without getting it.
We’ve been ordering the spinach artichoke dip for years. What we got last night was pathetic. It came in a small cup half full. It was only a quarter of what we used to get and couldn’t even finish a quarter of the chips before it was gone. We mentioned this to the bartender and she was dismissive saying we must have been lucky every time before to just get more. I looked it up and multiple other people are complaining the portion size shrunk while the price remained the same.
There was also a massive fight that broke out in the kitchen. We heard a man’s or men’s voices screaming at the top of their lungs swearing and fighting. We were honestly waiting for people to come out of the kitchen fist fighting. The entire bar area was talking to each other trying to figure out what was going on so half the restaurant heard it. Sad to say this is not the first time we’ve overheard staff arguing/complaining but this was definitely the worst. You guys need to do better than this. The food and service was not worth the $85 we paid. You need...
Read moreSo the all you can eat deal is interesting. First plate, moderately filled with some boneless wings. I did garlic parmesan, which from the picture looked like it would be a wet sauce. When they came out it was seasoning that was sprinkled on normal wings with 17 pieces of shredded cheese. ( I didn't count, let just say it was very sparce. )
Second plate came out after the waiter took my first plate which still had a few french fries on it and there were five shrimp on a small plate. Yes.... 5 single fried shrimp. No fries ( I guess the endless fries ended? ) Currently waiting on my third plate of riblets. ( Wanted to try all three.)
Just got the riblets. Which unfortunately looks like meat that was molded around pieces of bone. ( I do mean pieces too. ) After taking out some of the quarter-sized pieces of bone which I can accept because it's a riblet, I then started crunching into some of the other meat which had smaller pieces of bone throughout the I meat.
All in all I would not recommend the all you can eat deal at Applebee's. However, my wife and my son's meal were not bad at all and they enjoyed them.
I do have to hand it to the people that put together the physical menu at Applebee's, as the meal looks delicious in the pictures but in real life looks absolutely nothing like what you get on your plate. And I mean...
