In the future, Applebee's won't be my first choice. You know that feeling when you walk thru the door and your gut tells you to turn and leave, but you stay anyway. Listen to your gut people. I must say it wasn't a horrible experience, but none the less, not great one either. My husband and I walk in and there are 4 employees at the host station, not only were we not greeted, but not acknowledged until a host came back after seating 2 other people. Drink orders. Very simple. Bud light in a bottle with a frosted glass and sweet tea. They only have unsweetened tea, so I asked them to add simple syrup from the bar. Not only did I get a disgusted look from our server, but she suggested the flavored teas instead. When the drinks arrived, no frosted glass and unsweetened tea. Ok so I added sugar packets and waited for the sugar to disolve and waited for the frosted glass. Had to ask for another beer and didn't get a fresh frosted glass. Meal orders. Appitizer combo with sirrachi boneless wings with ranch dressing and 8oz sirlon, mashed potatoes and garlic green beans. Once the food arrived we had to ask for the ranch dressing again and if I was served an 8oz steak, it appeared small. The flavor was great and cooked to order. No complaints. The green beans were undercooked and had no flavor. My husband said the sirrachi sauce was funky and not spicy at all. I guess I expected a little...
Read moreFeeling Hangry, we decided to go to Applebee's located at 145 Stander Ave, Mansfield. My husband and I usually order the same items but he was feeling steak. Man 🤎 Steak, it's complicated! It's darn near impossible to find a place that can cook a good steak to order, and be consistent. Unfortunately, my husband has not been lucky with ordering steak from Applebee's. Tonight, he asked the Bartender and she proudly states, "well not one steak has gone back with the cook we have tonight." He orders the steak with the precise instructions on temp. As the wife, I don't mind saying, I was nervous, I could see it now (steak, overcooked, bland.... send it back) but my friends. The steak and man married and what a celebration of flavor, grill marks and juices!!! He expressed his joy! His taste buds screamed for more!!!!. He even asked the chef to come out and with praise and a firm handshake, a new relationship was formed. Chef Josh, you hit it out of the park!!! And when we learned it was your first night cooking, we were even more amazed. Applebee's, don't screw this up, keep that kid, he's going places and he'll take you to the next...
Read moreWell staffed, slightly expensive. I had the shrimp and parmesan sirloin. I ordered it with the bacon Mac and cheese, and garlic mashed potatoes, and also with crispy onion and mushroom.
There was plenty of onion, although they put the sauteed ones instead. They weren't very strong though so that was okay I guess. The mushrooms, however, there were only three thin slices smaller than a dime. Very disappointed by that, especially when the onion costs the same to add and there was loads of that.
The shrimp was good. The sauce they use for it is also good. The steak was a bit tougher than I expected, but it had a good flavor and was very close to medium rare. I ordered it medium so it was fine, very close, but you may want to order it a shade more done if you're a stickler or you don't want any rare at all showing.
The Mac and cheese with bacon wasn't worth the upcharge. It was pretty bland, very little cheese or bacon, and just kinda salty. The garlic mashed potatoes were good though, especially with that butter sauce that comes on the shrimp.
The waitress was very good, very attentive, especially for the crowd. No...
