This was my first but certainly not last visit to Blaze Pizza! I loved it!
Due to dietary restrictions (gluten sensitive and allergies), I have had a hard time finding a gluten free pizza I can eat. I started by looking at their online menu which is fantastic. Looking under nutrition and allergies, you are able to notate what you are allergic to and it tells you which items you can have on their menu. When you look at the items themselves, it tells you what the ingredients are, calories, etc. In the past I have had to call or email restaurants to find out what is in the gluten free dough because I am allergic to some of them. Bingo! They had a lot of things I could eat as well as freshly made (not frozen like some places), gluten free dough.
Onward to lunch! I had a build your own pizza which was fantastic! The g. f. dough was thinner than the regular (which I like) with a nice taste and chew to it. The staff was very helpful when I mentioned allergies, they offer to change gloves when working with your dough and have one sauce separate for people who may fear cross contamination from the sauces.
I was even surprised to learn of several drink items that I could have made with cane sugar rather than corn syrup (another allergin), normally I end up with water. Score!
The meal, and staff were great . The food was fresh and tasty, I would highly recommend it.
My only one complaint would be the noise level. It was a busy time and the building itself doesn't absorb sounds. It was a little hard to have a conversation at times.
Overall though, If give it an A+, it made my day to be able to have...
Read moreNot celiac safe!!! I brought my coworker to blaze because I personally love the pizza. She has celiacs disease but has wanted to try the GF pizza. When ordering she was amazed by how much cross contamination there was with their non gluten free products! First was preparing the dough. The employee had the flour for the wood boards cross over the gluten free designated oil container. Which of course got flour all in the oil that we could physically see. Not only is that careless, dirty, and a poor set up, but it's dangerous! Especially if you advertise gluten free! The other thing that was cross contamination was the dough press. THEY USED THE SAME PRESS AS THE REGULAR DOUGH! I mean this is just common sense...don't use the same dough press you just used on a non gluten free dough. They whipped down the machine with a dry paper towel (just the bottom) and called it a day. The only things they did do were change their gloves and put the GF dough on a special black mat so when in the oven it's not touching the surface. Oh and don't even get sauce on GF pizza bc the brushes physically touch every other pizza they make. If you advertise GLUTEN FREE then you better think everything through as a business so people like my coworker don't get horribly ill. This establishment is GLUTEN SENSITIVE, and should be...
Read moreThe pizza was good, and the people were nice even when I pointed out that the restaurant is absolutely disgusting. It was so dirty. It looked like the bedroom of a teenage boy who rarely cleaned up.
And this was at 5 pm when the restaurant was largely empty. Everything needed to be wiped down, swept, mopped , or otherwise disinfected.
I intended to dine in, but I asked them to throw my salad out and took my pizza to go.
I wanted to also get a side salad, but the spinach should have been thrown out, the green peppers looked gray, and in general, the filth of the restaurant, combined with the yucky vegetables, sort of turned my stomach a little bit.
If you are the owner of this restaurant and reading this, know that your people are not cleaning the restaurant to industry standards, and some of the vegetables they are putting out are old and disgusting.
EDIT: Also, I read some of the recent reviews after I posted mine. If you are the above owner and are tempted to come here and say--as you did to several other commenters-- something like "We're very sorry etc." please don't bother, because obviously, the reviews did not engender any...
