Authentic Nepali-Indian Cuisine with a Warm Atmosphere!
Kathmandu Kitchen and Bar is a hidden gem in Storrs! The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious—full of authentic Nepali and Indian flavors, perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection.
We tried the chicken momo, and they were hands-down the best we’ve had outside of Nepal—juicy, flavorful, and served with a rich dipping sauce. The goat vindaloo had the perfect balance of spice and tenderness, while the daal makhani was creamy and packed with deep, comforting flavors. The naan was soft and warm, making it the perfect accompaniment to our meal.
The boti kabab was tender and well-seasoned, and the hakka noodles added a delightful Indo-Chinese twist. The highlight of our meal was the duck tandoori, which was smoky, juicy, and perfectly cooked in the clay oven.
The drinks were also fantastic, and the bar had a great selection of cocktails to complement the meal.
If you’re looking for a place with authentic Nepali-Indian cuisine, great service, and a cozy atmosphere, Kathmandu Kitchen and Bar is the place to go. We highly recommend it and will definitely...
Read moreI like South Asian cuisine, so I've visited Kathmandu Kitchen about 5 times in the last year. The food is okay -- I felt that the freshness of the ingredients was really hit-or-miss, which is unfortunate because this place is one of the more expensive restaurants in Storrs.
The worst part of my many experiences here is the hygiene. The glasses and dinnerware are typically laid out on the tables prior to customers being seated. On 2 occasions, I found that the drinking glasses were not well washed, and I could see the outline of someone's lips around the rims. I switched the glass out, only to find out that the second one was also smudged with lips :/ The forks and knives also typically have residual foods on them, so searching other empty tables to find a clean one is a chore - one that should not fall on the customer.
Summary: food tastes fairly good, but the hygiene and freshness of ingredients are consistently questionable. I would...
Read moreI tried to order take out on my way to start a local night shift. Called 20 minutes prior to closing, which Google says is 10:30. This was Friday night, not a slow day for most restaurants. First, I was told I can't order because they were closed, but they back tracked that by asking how quickly I can get there. I'm parked at Price Chopper so I'm basically already there. Then they say they only have two items available, no doubt because they had long ago started the work of closing the restaurant despite it not being closing time. I thought 20 minutes prior to closing was reasonable considering this is usually the time I'm quoted when ordering. I guess they don't like money. If you don't want customers 20 minutes prior to 10:30, then change your closing time to something earlier. I bet they would have happily been operating right up until closing time if college was in session with plenty of students, but screw the...
