Hurtado Barbecue Mansfield — Restaurant in Mansfield

𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: 𝐇𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝐁𝐁𝐐 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 - I’m back with a review and this will be detailed.

𝐇𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝐁𝐁𝐐:

Located in a shopping mall off Walnut Creek by the RR tracks, it’s a convenient location. Looked good inside – they have booths, tables and a bar with stools set up. You go to the window when you walk in and order. You get your drinks and napkins and plasticware yourself and then sit and they bring it to you.

There were 5 of us and we sat at the booth. The place is clean, atmosphere good. The staff were all SUPER friendly and helpful. We only had 2 drawbacks, which I’ll talk about later. They were minor.

𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝):

𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐨 with side of Hatch Mac n Cheese and Mexican Street Corn. The person who got this loved it. He finished all the Mac n Cheese but could only finish half the corn – it was good, just a lot of food. Sandwich was great.

𝐒𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐨 with side of Hatch Mac n Cheese – He enjoyed it but forgot to tell them lean so it was a little fatty. Otherwise good.

𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 with double mashed potatoes – She enjoyed hers and could only finish part of the potatoes – it’s a lot of food.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 with Mexican street corn and Hatch Mac n Cheese. She loved the taste of everything but brought most of it home in boxes due to drawbacks discussed below. I tasted a bit of her chicken and the mac n cheese and it was so good! I’m not sure what they dip the chicken in but it was amazing.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐚 – ½ pound of brisket (I asked for lean) in a baked potato with garlic butter, cheese, chives and sour cream on the side. I ate it and it would have been sooooo good but ack! See drawback below. The brisket was good! They got most of the real fatty part off for me so I could eat almost all of it.

𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐩𝐢𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞: STOP IT! Who said dessert didn’t matter? These things are incredible. The filling AND the crust. I’d go back just for this. They only had key lime and peach, so we both got peach. They were out of banana pudding and didn’t have blueberry pie like the website says. But peach was incredible.

We also all got a drink, so five Cokes: 1 Coke, 1 Dr. Pepper, 1 Big Red, and I’m not sure what the other 2 got. But they’re nice, big cups with good Styrofoam material so the ice doesn’t melt and you can take it to go.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝟐 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬: We only had two minor ones. The first was the lack of salt and pepper. She said their truck didn’t come in but a baked potato NEEDS salt big time. It was very, very bland without it. There was none coated on the outside of the potato and none to put on it. I think they should rush down to the store and grab some salt and pepper shakers to put on tables.

The second was that the napkins are those super, super thin ones that basically disintegrate when you touch them – thin, worthless when pitted against a formidable BBQ and this is why my daughter took her meal home – because the plasticware wasn’t easy to cut the chicken with and she needed to use her hands but the napkins were not good.

Other than that, this place is REALLY great. I wanted to try the birria tacos but they have cilantro mixed in they said, so it wasn’t something they could leave off and unfortunately, I’m one of those people plagued with the soap gene. Same with the cornbread.

This is definitely a great addition to Mansfield and we’ll be back to try more! For those who need pricing, we spent $150.06 which included a 20%...

This food is ssa point blank period. However, they do have 2 items that are actually good. The texas twinkie and the brisket… to be frank I would hope their brisket is good bc ure in Texas… u can go to spring creek and get good brisket… now Texas twinkies Ik only two places so far you can get a really good one which is here and Hutchins bbq… GO TO HUTCHINS BBQ… every single time i come here only for the tx twinkies they are ALWAYS sold out 3x in a row now once abt 2 hrs before they closed and 2x around this time(2pm) like if u sellout everyday why not just make enough? or maybe put of their online order that they are sold out??! idk im just a customer. ribs mid, tater tot casserole(pictured) sucks u can see all the oil, it’s definitely food for yt ppl… can’t remember what else i had the first time i had this place and didnt even take pics bc thats how bad the food was… granted i went to the location by uta and even tho that line is always out the door at least they know how to supply and demand unlike this mansfield location that lets you stand in line for 20 mins before disclose they cant make enough of certain items for customers. i will make it my duty to bad mouth this place on every social media and to every person who asks…just useless

ps. i remember i got the mashed potatoes and sausage as well… and it takes alotttt for me to hate mashed potatoes bc im a potato connoisseur… the mp are SSA too! i take that back ssa is actually better tbh….sausage is easier to be bad than good so ig i’ll cut them slack there but yeah this...
