This was my first time eating at one of these and from the road I thought it was an actual restaurant I can sit in to eat. Turns out it's a order either at the kiosks or online, then pick up your food to eat elsewhere. They do have a little patio area with a few tables, see my pictures, but the day I went it was 100° so no. Kiosk experience was not great as I tried five times with two different credit cards but the chip reader on the kiosk would not work. So the only way to pay is to then go inside the H-E-B wait in line at the self-checkout scan my little barbecue receipt and pay there. That was also less than optimal because I grabbed a couple other things while I was in there anyway, and when I hit pay now, the self-checkout hung up. The friendly H-E-B assistant came over and advised me that if you're paying for barbecue you have to do it separate from any other groceries. Then I headed back out and finally got my food. So here's the good part, the food is excellent: Lean brisket-moist, flavorful, just the right smoke, and a perfect bark. Smoked Turkey - I am a smoked turkey freak and this just might be the best I've ever had. Cream Corn - delicious almost gravy like cream, and a nice little bit of char on the kernels Coleslaw - good with just the right amount of moisture, but this is the one thing that was just kind of bland I feel like it needed some seasoning. Sweet BBQ Sauce - not my favorite, to me there was something odd about the flavor, but honestly I'm a bad judge of sauce because if the meat is good - and here the meat is superb - I just don't use sauce. I only tried it for this review and I just dipped bread in it. - speaking of bread, they gave two slices but it's just regular white sandwich bread. To me a Texas BBQ needs to be serving Texas toast size slices of bread, preferably fresh made. Excellent place I will definitely go again, I need to try the chopped brisket sandwich and the potato salad.

My daughter is shopping at HEB, asked her to pick up a sliced brisket sandwich, haven't received it yet but I would like to make mention of the true BBQ app. I was trying to order on the app so my daughter wouldn't have to stand in line after shopping but I have an Android phone and you can only download their app if you have an Iphone. Why? You are limiting your company from orders and money. People are user friendly and don't want to stand in line, esp when it's long and you have to wait at least 15 min for your order. There are just as many Android users in this city, why not make it available to the Google play store..i have never seen this before. Will do a food review after I eat..well just been informed that you guys were out of sliced brisket, had to get chopped beef sandwich instead, hmmm, was looking forward to the fatty brisket, guess I'll try again soon.So I tasted the chopped beef leftovers bc they ran out of sliced beef, received a baby bun sandwich with one big onion and meat just thrown on the bun, pic posted. Had I been there, I would've given this sloppy sandwich right back to them. Doesn't taste good at all, will not return ..

Let's be honest, grocery store food courts don't exactly scream "culinary masterpiece." But hold your horses, BBQ lovers, because this little BBQ spot attached to HEB was pretty yummy. It's a tasty spot to grab a quick take-out meal. No inside seating. You order from the kiosk on the side or from their app on your phone and they'll text you when your order is ready. I opted for the burnt ends and brisket combo, and I can tell you, it was a pleasant surprise. The burnt ends were the winners on the plate. Each morsel was nicely caramelized on the outside. The smoke flavor was well balanced by a touch of sweetness that wasn't overpowering. And the brisket? Tender, juicy, and packed with that rich, slow-cooked flavor that BBQ lovers crave. The sauce was tangy, sweet, and with a hint of spice that enhanced the meats without overpowering the natural smokiness. The sides were fresh and tasty; I really enjoyed the beans with bits of brisket. My only complaint was that the portions of meat and sides were small and I didn't feel like I got enough bang for my bucks. Hence the reason for 3 stars instead of 4.
