I've been going to this location since it opened a few years ago and always had a great experience, good food, great service. I always found that it was worth the price. My partner and I have not been there for a year but we decided to spend my birthday there , have a few snacks at the bar. A couple of good drinks and great people watching and conversation. I never once doubted that it would be a good experience.... Until 5 minutes after we sat down.
I immediately realized that I recognized only one person working behind the bar and also noticed that on a Thursday at 5 pm there were numerous open seats, and this is not what I was accustomed to. One bartender greeted us without making contact while he cleaned up the bar , giving us menus to look at and walked away. 10 minutes later a different bartender came up and asked what we wanted and when I didn't know right away walked away while I was asking if we could have a couple waters in the meantime. She came back with the waters and said do you know yet? Again, not making eye contact which I found to be very strange in not only a bartender but someone who depends on connecting with people for income?
Anyway, fast forward to so so service and eventually ordering items to share. One of these items included the dry rub wings in the ambassador flavor which I have had numerous times since they opened. We received the wings heavily coated with the rub but with a nice cook it appeared. As soon as we both dove into a wing, We both immediately commented that it was inedible due to being pure salt. I like salt... I crave salty snacks instead of sweet and as someone who cooks a lot, I understand the important aspects of salt in a rub. However, this was like the can of Morton salt was the number one ingredient with a little black pepper and garlic added on the side. It hurt. While the other items were good and we made it clear that they were, we immediately let our bartender know that they were inedible. Instead of apologizing or seeking more information, she instead said " well, the key ingredients are salt and pepper so they're going to be salty" . I paused so as not to react and said, but this is inedible. I'm aware the key ingredients in any basic rub, but this is pure assault and we cannot eat them. " Well what do you want me to do with them? I suppose I can go find out if I can get you a new order if that's what you want" I simply told her that if it's made in a large batch, chances are it's going to be salty again and I would rather not have them waste time on the same thing. She promptly interrupted me by saying we make our own rubs and then walked away. What I wanted to say was we don't want the same thing. Without checking with us if we wanted another order, she went to the manager at the bar discussed with him. Visibly smiling with an eye roll in front of us, and then put in a new order. She walked by very quickly and said I've put a new one and they'll be out soon.
Can you guess what happened?? Needless to say, we had another inedible order of dry rub wings crusted with salt. So they wasted another order of wings and unless someone has superior taste buds in the kitchen they all went in the garbage which in itself is sad.
During this entire encounter we did not get an apology, we did not get any empathy, we did not have the manager who was 10 ft away from us. Most of the evening come over and check or apologize. Instead, we had a bartender who could not muster up the ability to make eye contact with us the majority of the night until it came to getting her tip and closing out our check. Even during that conversation We never heard a thing with regard to the experience, the obvious mistake in the menu item. Interestingly enough, even though shared with her that it was my birthday and that's why we were there, we never even heard about a dessert menu or I guarantee we would have ordered some.
It's too bad because I used to really like that place, but I don't think we need to drive to Maple Grove to go there when there are plenty of other...

An Incredible Ham-scape, indeed
Boy am I glad I booked my ticket to this bar. Check out the lineup:
The Anytime Monte -- "Piles of country smoked ham and peppered turkey, pecan smoked bacon, and fontina cheese tucked between slices of French toast. Served with Montamore hash browns, beer cheese sauce, and jalapeño strawberry jam"
The Next Day -- "Hand crafted burger patty, rested on a bed of Montamore hash browns, topped with a herb cheese, extra thick cut pecan smoked bacon, and an over easy egg on Vienna bread."
And for the purists, the Plain Jane "1⁄4 pound signature blend ground beef seasoned with a burger spice blend. Topped with lettuce, tomato and sweet Vidalia onion. Served on griddle toasted pub bun."

Holy buckets, Brick and Bourbon! The menu is simply awesome with something for everyone. But after a waitress recommendation and dazzling description, the Anytime Monte had me intrigued...
It was SPECTACULAR! Savory ham, turkey, and sweet nutty bacon all took their spot in this sandwich's symphony of flavor. Plus Fontina cheese, fo me,? Yes please! An egg on top was no overkill, and the jalapeño strawberry was definitely my jam takes a breath Last but not least, add beer cheese sauce and you're swimming in savory, floating on a raft of fantastic thick French toast next to crispy, house-made hash browns. Top 5 sandwiches ever for me, no doubt. Breakfast for dinner where everyone's a winner
My brothers in crime had the other behemoths pictured here. But they didn't have any complaints;) Both were impressed by the burgers! The Next Day seemed especially sensational, with the 'browns ON TOP, under an herb cheese
Thanks to Idallys for the recommendation and being an amazing server for us!!!
Quinn and Quaid know how the foodie game is played thank you so much for taking me to this terrific...
Read moreTraveling through town, and looking for a place with walleye. One of the reviews mentioned wall ice so we came to brick and Bourbon. Moderately busy, friendly, noisy, and seated immediately for two. Waitress was available immediately and offered suggestions and took orders. Drinks and appetizers came in within a couple minutes. Water was refreshed. We an appetizer of brussels sprouts that had been fried and then broiled. They were delicious. They apparently had the wings sauce on them. They were crispy and perfectly cooked. We both ordered the pecan crusted walleye. Each dish has two large fillets of walleye on top of a modified wild rice (not native wild Rice) and topped by very pleasant mixture of greens, cabbage and citrus. The wall, I were absolutely perfectly cooked and delicious. We used to live in Minnesota, but have not been there for decades, but eat while every time we come back. This is the best dish we have had in 30 years. We tried the rhubarb spread and the smoke to old-fashioned. The smoked old-fashioned was a impressive site and tasted very good with a sugared, waffle and bacon on the top. The rhubarb drink mix a little bit with not having any true rhubarb flavor to satisfy two people that are planted rhubarb around the country taken From Native Minnesota soil. This wonderful meal was overshadowed by the amazing service of Brittany. She continued to show wonderful attention, was pleasant, timely, and enhanced the meal that we were receiving. Great place to stop and we would certainly come back if next time going...
